Japadog
Armed with carts, a restaurant and a roving food truck, there are places all over the city to pick up one of Japadog’s delicious hot dogs. Hybridizing the food cart staple hot dog with traditional Japanese ingredients, Japadog’s hot dogs are piled high with unique toppings such as soba noodles, teriyaki sauce, seaweed and miso sauce. In addition to the usual pork and beef sausages on offer, there are also sausages and bases made with salmon and shrimp tempura, as well as vegetarian options.
Yolks
Serving a range of breakfast and brunch foods, Yolks‘ food truck came into existence following massive demand from their anchor restaurant. Yolks allows customers to build their own breakfast sandwich, as well as options like organic oatmeal and granola and their fresh, homemade beignets and coffee options. Try one of their eggs benedict, featuring honey cured ham, spinach and mustard, all served on a toasted English muffin with hollandaise sauce for a savory brunch classic.
Le Tigre
A modern interpretation of classic Chinese cuisine, Le Tigre food truck combines local ingredients with organic meats and sustainable seafood. Lle Tigre’s philosophy of food emphasies the importance of emotions in their food, conveying that every dish is created with care and a careful balancing of the flavors by chefs Clement Chan and Steve Kuan. Their fried beets come highly-recommended, as well as their ‘Kick Ass’ fried rice with pork belly, a melt-in-your-mouth dish that lives up to it’s name.
La Boheme Creperie
Serving both savory and sweet varieties of the traditionally French crepe, La Boheme Creperie offers something to fulfill all cravings. Roving Vancouver’s streets in a bright pink, hand-painted van, these crepes are filled to the brim with local, fresh ingredients, often found at farmers’ markets that La Boheme Creperie frequents. Their ‘La Quebecoise’ comes particularly recommended, using a buckwheat crepe as a base, and then filled with cheddar, ham, apples and maple syrup, additionally offering a range of vegan and vegetarian crepes. Unusually for a food truck, they have no Facebook or Twitter for diners to keep tabs on their location, so look out for them at Trout Lake and Kitsilano Farmer’s Markets every Saturday and Sunday.
