Vancouverites love their sports. With teams such as the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Vancouver Canadians to support, sports bars are brimming with people year-round. Here are the best sports bars to check out in Vancouver.

1. The Charles Bar

Bar, Pub Grub, Beer, Canadian

The Charles Bar sits on the ground floor of Vancouver’s famous Woodwards Building in Gastown. Its unique V-shape design means people can sit at the bar, sip a local craft beer, and watch all NBA and NFL games on the 2.7-meter (nine-foot) HD screen. But then around the corner, other guests can also sit down and enjoy the delicious food and cocktails on the menu. The Charles Bar is a modern space that’s redefining the term “sports bar” in Vancouver.

2. Red Card Sports Bar and Eatery

Bar, Pizzeria, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Italian

Red Card Sports Bar and Eatery is undoubtedly the most perfectly named sports bar in the city. It has 16 HD televisions, as well as two 2.69-meter (8.8-foot) projector screens so that you won’t miss a bit of the sports action at Red Card. The sports bar has daily specials and lists the live sports showing every day on its website. Get in touch with the considerate team at Red Card if your sport or team isn’t listed, as they might be able to organize a viewing for you.

3. Village Taphouse

Pub, Pub Grub, Beer, Canadian

The Village Taphouse says it’s the “best damn place to hang out on the North Shore.” They might be right, as they have 20 beers on tap, indoor and outdoor pool tables, plenty of space, and 17 screens for watching sports. The Village Taphouse also has many daily specials, and an evening and late-night happy hour every day too; this means that you can enjoy watching sports and having a drink without it costing you too much.

4. Yagger’s

Bar, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Beer, Canadian

Yagger’s lies in both downtown Vancouver and Kitsilano. They are all about serving comfort food in a relaxing sports-themed environment. There’s a TV for everyone at Yagger’s, which is always focused on one sport or another. Management and regulars alike recommend complementing your sports viewing with some wings, which are served in flavors such as Baha spice, Caribbean jerk, honey ginger, banjo chipotle bourbon, and Jägermeister-glazed.

5. Shark Club Vancouver

Bar, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Beer, American

The city’s original sports bar, Shark Club Vancouver “redefines sports bar and pub greatness.” The bar and grill’s location is just steps from BC Place and Rogers Arena, which is where most of the sports action happens in Vancouver. Shark Club is popular before, during, and after local sports games and concerts. It has many small television screens, as well as two projectors that each measure 3.66 meters x 2.1 meters (12ft x 7ft).

6. Score on Davie

Bar, Pub, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Beer

Score on Davie is primarily known for its crazy caesar creations, which include the signature Canadian drink topped with chicken legs, brownies, onion rings and so much more. But it’s also a popular local hangout and sports bar on Davie Street. It has a large selection of rotating taps and bottles, featuring local and international beers and cider. Their food menu also includes a lot of shareable plates, which are the perfect accompaniment for a sports match.

7. Colony Bar - Main Street

Bar, Pub, Restaurant, Pub Grub, Beer

Colony Bar – Main Street has a sister location in Kitsilano like Yagger’s. The open-plan bar and restaurant is a favorite with Mount Pleasant residents. There are wall-to-wall windows at the front, which remain open in summer. Above the bar, there are also plenty of HD television screens, which not only show sporting events but also classic movies on some occasions. The Colony Bar has 18 local craft beers on tap too.

8. PressBox Pub

Pub, Pub Grub, Beer, Canadian

Located outside of the downtown area, PressBox Pub is a bar underneath the Atrium Inn that’s known for its sports viewing. There are plenty of HD televisions in the PressBox Pub so that “you can feel as though you are sitting in the stadium’s press box while you catch the hockey game, football game, or more.” There are drink specials throughout the week, as well as open mic and karaoke nights.

9. 12 Kings Pub

Pub, Pub Grub, Beer

12 Kings Pub says they are Vancouver’s only craft beer-focused sports bar. Some of the local craft beers on offer at the pub come from Storm Brewing, Yellow Dog Brewing, and Coal Harbour Brewing. The pub also has game sound for all Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Whitecaps games, and other major sporting events. It also shows all UFC pay-per-view events, so never miss a match and visit 12 Kings Pub.
