Wild Rose
Inspired by the ‘strong and free’ wild spirit of Alberta, Wild Rose is a brewery that grounds itself strongly in local techniques and natural ingredients. Only available in its home province, this is a great brewery for those looking to try something new and unusual. As well as guided tours, you can also try their Tap Room, a brew pub voted Calgary’s favorite for six years running.

1. Minhas Micro Brewery
Market, Restaurant, Beer
The largest craft brewery in the city, Minhas Micro Brewery is a family-owned business founded by brother and sister duo Ravinder and Manjit. Having originally started with liquor production, the company moved into the beer market in 2002, which is when their flagship brand Mountain Crest Classic Lager was created. Tours of the brewery demonstrate the basics of beer production, but you can also opt to sample their brews in Pizza Brew, their award-winning restaurant.

2. Last Best Brewing & Distilling
Pub, Pub Grub
Part of the Bearhill Brewing Family, Last Best is a brew pub that focuses on promoting Alberta’s importance in Canada’s national craft beer and brewing industries. Aiming to create a link between the local community and ‘beer culture’, the owners have grounded their business in a monthly social club based on beer tasting and appreciation. Their own in-house brews are centered around five signature ales, as well as some other more temporary varieties, like a ‘caramel latte’ beer with velvety notes of local Fratello coffee.
