Ras Al Khaimah has long been recognised for setting itself apart from other Emirates when it comes to active tourism. The city already offers Via Ferrata, an adventure concept that takes people on a dare-devil hike around the mountains, while attached to a metal cable. Now, Ras Al Khaimah is taking thrill-seeking to the next level and building the longest zip line in the world.

For those who love adrenaline, this one’s for you. The zip line is a project in partnership with Toro Verde, who are the world’s lead zip line operator. By combining quality, excitement and an environmentally friendly ethos, Ras Al Khaimah hopes to have found the winning combination. Although this Emirate has a lot to offer, visitors often opt for visiting Dubai and Abu Dhabi when coming to the UAE, and so the longest zip line in the world is aimed at tempting them its way.

Ras Al Khaimah

The longest zip line in the world is set to open on the first week of December 2017 and should beat the Guinness World Record, currently held by Puerto Rico. What makes it particularly special is that it will be located in Jebel Jais. This is the highest peak in the whole of the United Arab Emirates at 1930 meters high, guaranteeing an extra thrill, as the zip line will not only be long, it will be extremely high too. Jebel Jais is already home to the UAE’s first zip line, as part of the Via Ferrata track.

The new Ras Al Khaimah line is expected to be longer than 28 football fields and will welcome all ages – able to accommodate 250 people a day. Take note that the limitations for riding the attraction are a minimum weight of 35kg and maximum weight of 150kg, as well as a minimum height of 120cm.

Perhaps one of the most impressive features of the soon-to-be-opened zip line is that it will be eco-friendly. It will use solar energy and locally-sourced natural materials in order to ensure that it makes as little impact on the environment as possible, whilst keeping all thrill seekers happy.

Only a few more months to wait, but the world is already raving about this new attraction, set to establish Ras Al Khaimah as the number one adventure destination in the UAE.
