This Mountain Biker Captures The Isle Of Skye At Its Most Epic
If you haven’t yet witnessed the awe-inspiring magic in the viral videos of Danny MacAskill, then you’re certainly missing out! This Scottish daredevil is a pro street trials rider and a YouTube sensation. He is a dab hand at death defying stunts with his bike. Amidst his never-ending list of wanderlust-worthy adventures, is his most epic expedition of them all — ‘The Ridge’.
As his first major mountain bike video, ‘The Ridge’ was a personal journey that lured him back to his home turf on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The video follows Danny as he traverses across the teetering Cuillin Ridgeline with nothing but his bike and the wind caressing his skin.
Whether adventurer or wanderer, there’s no denying the enchanting qualities upon Skye’s Cuillin. These towering mountains sport exposed summits of sharp, jagged rocks punctuated with abrupt cliffs and vast gullies.

At the peak of it all, however, is the moment when Danny scales the iconic Inaccessible Pinnacle free from safety ropes while lugging his bike on his back. As the highest point of the mountain Sgùrr Dearg, this shark’s fin of a blade demands rock climbing prowess and a firm sense of mind over matter.
Needless to say, the panoramic views from the top are akin to the wildest of imaginations and dreams.
‘The Ridge’ shows Danny as a moving meditation. After all, this Scottish biking sensation achieves the seemingly insane and impossible as he glides over waterfalls, soars across untamed terrain, balances upon thin ribbon tree trunks and springs from one menacing rock to the next.
It seems as though bonnie Skye and MacAskill make quite the dynamic duo.
