How To Wear The Waist Belt

Culture Trip brings you the skinny on how to wear this year’s biggest accessory, and where to buy it.

Given the world’s fresh obsession with denim – it was only a matter of time before savvy adopters started focusing on the accessories needed to add a further statement to their jean of choice. While it may have been a long ten (fifteen?) years, ’80’s-ophiles’ can finally rejoice: the waist belt is back.

After a hiatus which invited an understated, minimal approach to dressing, the new style to covet marries a simple strap with a statement buckle for a grown-up, pulled together look. Look no further than the Kenzo menswear catwalk or the fully-functional anorak pairings at Versace SS17 for inspiration. For a fuller effect, pile on the big buckles and clash with bright prints or statement silhouettes (in the style of Alberta Ferretti). You certainly won’t be accused of overdoing it.
