This Summer, London's Getting a Retro Roller Disco Complete With Cocktails and Burgers!

If you and your mates fancy taking it back to the 70s this summer, then this roller disco is just the thing.

QUEENS, the ice rink, diner and bowling alley in Queensway, have let BUMP defrost their ice rink and turn it into a retro roller disco for the next 10 days only. The 111 square metre (1,200-square foot) rink has been decked over and a giant mirror ball installed overhead. Simply rock up, hire some boots and get skating and grooving.

The brains behind the take over are BUMP, the mobile roller disco people, who, with their love of skates and pumping beats, have built up a loyal following with events at London’s Southbank and other venues. QUEENS owner Ben Bourne said of the partnership, ‘The new QUEENS’ raison d’être is to offer families, youngsters and grown-ups the best in active socialising. BUMP are a perfect partner to continue this, bringing something new, plus their creativity and colour, to QUEENS for this exciting 10-day pop up!’.

If that wasn’t enough fun, QUEENS also has an amazing selection of retro video games such as Pac-Man, Asteroids, Point Blank and Space Invaders.

Meet MEATliquor

After working up a sweat on the dance floor, slid into a chair at MEATliquor, QUEENS’ on-site diner. Say ‘so long’ to the 60s and dine on the classic ‘Dead Hippy’ burger – made with two French’s mustard-fried beef patties, dead hippie sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and minced white onions. Wash this down with some truly awesome cocktails such as the deadly ‘Pipe Dreams’ – Pernod Absinthe, watermelon syrup and lemon juice, served in a glass pipe.

The event runs from June 8 until June 18, 2017. Skates are available in a range of styles to fit feet from a child’s size 9 to an adult’s size 14. Tickets available from the QUEENS website.
