Little Lamb Hotpot
Restaurant, Mongolian, $$$$
At the Little Lamb Hotpot, diners sit at wooden tables with embedded hotplates and cook their own meal using raw meat, seafood, and vegetables in a hot stock. The history of the hot pot has to do with Mongol horsemen who would fill their overturned helmets with water, place them in embers to simmer and add meat and vegetables. This is how customers create their hot pot at Little Lamb. They also have an all-you-can-eat buffet option, which is a great way to try all of the flavoursome options.

Silk Road
Restaurant, Chinese, $$$
Silk Road has become a pioneer of London’s trend for branching out into regional Chinese cuisines as they quietly dish up favourites from the north-west province of Xinjiang. They are known for having wholesome, fiery dishes which include kebabs and dumplings. The menu may be short at Silk Road but it includes Sichuan-style dishes, as well as the delights from Xinjiang such as the pieces of lamb crusted with ground cumin, chilli, and salt and grilled whilst on a skewer. The dumplings are a very traditional staple to the Chinese but Silk Road shake it up and use lamb instead of the usual pork – well worth a try!

Hunan
Restaurant, Chinese$$$
One thing that makes Hunan stand out from the crown is their distinct lack of menu; you simply tell your waiter what food you like and how spicy, the rest is then left up to the chef! They have been serving tapas-style portions since 1982 and encourage you to share with your fellow diners. If you get lucky, you may be able to try their signature dish of a hearty broth of minced pork, Chinese mushroom, and ginger. Hunan is also known for its wine list, which is focused around Bordeaux, Burgundy and the New World, but, don’t worry, they do have offerings from Italy, Austria, Germany, and Spain also.
