Two Rivers’ seasonal menus boast fare as original as its setting with distinctly Mediterranean dishes given a Yorkshire twist with local ingredients and flavours. Standout dishes include the Yorkshire fettle cheese, melon and minted bean salad drizzled with lemon balsamic dressing and the Grimsby smoked cod loin with braised cabbage, bacon, caramelised onion and a beetroot and fennel puree.

Given Hull’s location on the North Sea, it would be a shame not to try a restaurant that showcases the bounty of local fisherman. Bait Fish & Grill, a modern British restaurant specialising in seafood and located on lively Princes Avenue, fits the bill perfectly. Chefs Sean and Andy create a la carte and fixed price menus using as much locally caught seafood as possible. Alongside theses are daily local seafood specials with dishes that include the Lindisfarne oyster appetiser with chopped shallots, sherry vinegar, lemon and tabasco and the beer battered haddock main served with chunky chips, minted peas and tartar sauce.
