For a holiday full of hikes in the mountains and picnics in the countryside, head to the Lake District. While it’s best known for its amazing restaurants and gorgeous hotels, sometimes it’s just easier to have your own space, with a fully-equipped kitchen and lounge area. Whether you want a relaxed, pet-friendly B&B with a kitchen, or fancy a luxury cosmopolitan pad, here are some of the best holiday apartments in the Lakes.

Offering ensuite rooms as well as one- to three- bedroom B&B apartments, the Embleton Spa Hotel is a relaxed and friendly affair in an 18th-century stone farmhouse. The dog-friendly apartments are all tastefully decorated and kitted out, and some also have private outdoor spaces.
