Harry Potter buffs: Ever fancied becoming a real-life wizarding prefect on the Hogwarts Express? Well, now’s your time to shine! This English railway is looking for someone just like you.

The North York Moors Historical Railway Trust (NYMR), based in North Yorkshire, are looking for a Harry Potter expert to Slytherin to a brand-new role at a historic train station connected with the famous film franchise.

While we all know about the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, Goathland Station features in Potter films as Hogsmeade Station on the Hogwarts Express route and is somewhat of a hidden gem in the north of England.

NYMR is a not-for-profit charity that aims to maintain and sustain its 18 miles (28.9 kilometres) of railway and provide educational and memorable experiences thanks to 180 years of Yorkshire locomotive history.

To help continue maintaining the railway and provide more fantastic experiences, the NYMR are looking for an “out of this world” individual who will act as a Wizarding Ambassador and Muggle Relations Expert during various Harry Potter-themed events at Goathland Station.

The volunteer role – which the NYMR stress is open to both wizards and muggles – will need expert knowledge on all things Hogwarts as the successful candidate will be expected to lead school groups on tours of the station, put together wizarding itineraries and work with the head of marketing and Ministry of Magic to provide a magical experience like no other.

If you feel like this is a perfect opportunity for you to show off your vast knowledge of Potter & co., you’ll also want to make sure you fit the brief.

Due to the nature of the charity, you may be required to work on weekends or evenings if necessary, as volunteer hours are dependent on bookings.

Applicants will also need previous experience working with Key Stage 1 & 2 children in an educational or guiding role, as tours are aimed at school groups and children.

If you think this role is for you, you’ll have to be quick as applications close on June 30, 2018! For more information and the full job description, please visit nymr.co.uk. To apply, send your CV and details of your experience (and Potter enthusiasm!) to marketing@nymr.co.uk.
