It’s true. There’s an actual, real-life Christmas dinner kebab on the market and it’s probably about to become England‘s favourite festive drunk food. But how on earth did turkey and sprouts end up in a kebab, and more importantly, where can we get one?!
For those who don’t know, it’s a rather English thing to stumble out of a club at 3am and head to the nearest takeaway outlet for a tray of the greasiest option on the menu. This Christmas, drunken eats in the United Kingdom could be about to take a rather festive twist thanks to kebab innovators I am Döner in the small village of Headingley, Leeds.

The Christmas dinner kebab

Forget those boring, leftover turkey sandwiches; this mouth-watering take on a classic kebab features turkey with all the trimmings. That’s roast potatoes, pork stuffing, parsnip crisps, bacon fries, and sprouts. Yep, sprouts. Topped off with turkey gravy and a lashing of cranberry mayonnaise, this mini Christmas dinner is tightly wrapped in freshly homemade bread for you to devour.

Veggies, don’t fret as there’s also a vegetarian version! It’s got Quorn instead of turkey, bacon frazzles instead of the bacon fries, sage and onion stuffing instead of pork, plus onion gravy instead of turkey gravy.

Speaking to us about the creation, shop owner Paul Baron said: “The Christmas dinner doner kebab actually started last year when we were just 6 months old. I love Christmas and love kebabs so the two are just a match made in heaven!”.

It’s not the first time they’ve done this kind of thing either. “We also like to collaborate with different restaurants on specials. We did a chicken 65 Indian inspired one with my fiancé’s restaurant chain (The Cats Pyjamas) and a doner pizza with Tapped Bars in Leeds. There will be many more to come! The response has been incredible.”

If you fancy getting your hands on one of these bad boys, they’re on sale now from I am Döner in Leeds, priced at £5.95 for a regular kebab and £7.95 for a large one.
