Whether you’re after a full English breakfast – or a fry-up, as we know it – a filling sandwich or a light brunch, Southampton has you covered. Here are some of the best brunch and breakfast places in Southampton, perfect for refueling after a heavy night or busy day ahead.

Mettricks Tea and Coffee House

Better lunch, brunch and dinner. That’s Mettricks’ motto, and don’t they mean it! Only complementing their incredible coffee, Mettricks have been devoted to serving up only the best locally sourced, fresh breakfasts and brunches since 2013 and there are no signs of stopping at any of their four branches. They also won Hampshire Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year award in 2017.

The Docks Coffee House

Known locally as The Travellers Waypost and also the recipient of the 2017 Hampshire Life Food and Drink Award for ‘Best Coffee House’, this coffee house and eatery is perfect for those looking for a light breakfast. Not only is The Docks’ coffee some of the best in Southampton, their healthy breakfast options like avocado toast or their famous salmon and cream cheese bagel should get you ready for the day ahead.

Josie’s

This cafe and wine bar in the Bishop Waltham area of Southampton is one of the most popular in the city – and with good reason, too. Often popular with the locals, this branch of Josie’s (one of three in Southampton) serves up wonderful breakfasts and brunches, and even has their own selection of wines. Now, we’re not suggesting that you have wine for breakfast, but with a selection this good you might want to stay a little longer.

Miss Ellie’s Cafe

Just a short walk from the River Itchen in Bitterne Park is Miss Ellie’s, a quaint cafe offering all you need for breakfast. Priding themselves on their friendly service, great value and hearty breakfast dishes, Miss Ellie’s is well worth the trip out of the city centre.

Halladay’s Tea Rooms

Attracting quite possible some of the best breakfast reviews that Southampton has ever seen, Halladay’s comes with quite the reputation. Their superb offerings of breakfast and brunch dishes leave nobody hungry, and their fairly central location is just the icing on the cake. Or should we say, the beans on the plate!
