Amsterdam has some foodie treats that are very much its own – and a visit to the city isn’t complete without sampling at least a few of them. Culture Trip has curated a list of tours and experiences take you to the very belly of the Dutch capital.
To understand what makes a city tick, you have to understand the locals’ taste buds – and some of our favourite tours let you do just that. Sign up for one of the below and you’ll be filling your face with everything from local cheeses and pickled herring to stroopwafels and craft beers in no time.
Even something as simple as making a stroopwafel has some hidden tricks. For example: fresh vanilla, and using dark brown local beer. Don’t worry, we will teach you! Instead of using milk, we use a dark Dubbel beer, to give it even more flavour. Search more at: stroopwaffle.org. Fun fact: did you know the Dutch have a rich tradition of drinking beer? In around 1700 it was considered healthier (and safer) to drink beer instead then water. While the dough is rising, we’ll present you with a small beer tasting where we will teach you more about Dutch Dubbel beer.
Jordaan Food Tour is so much more than meets the eye: it’s a guided walk through the unique cultural and historical sights of the Jordaan neighbourhood and a substantial meal in the form of a dozen delicious Dutch tastings from plenty of authentic foodie stops along the way! You will visit our locals in the very same shops and cafes they’ve been running for generations. (You’ll even experience their uniquely Jordanian sense of humour!) You’ll visit hidden courtyards, wander tiny back streets, and watch the boats drift by on the canals. Our local guides love to tell you their own Amsterdam stories, enhancing your experience while you eat, drink and walk along our canals with friends. Take a break from being a tourist and experience the real Amsterdam with us.
Quench your thirst for quality Dutch beer on this 3-hour evening Amsterdam beer tour, led by an expert local guide! Escaping the tourist-trap beer houses, the tour showcases some of Amsterdam’s quality bars – real locals’ favourites – while introducing you to the history of the Dutch brewing industry. Sample three beers and a typical Dutch snack, visit a brewery in the Red Light District, and then finish up in a legendary local beer hall where more than 200 types of beer are served!Numbers are limited to 12 on this small-group tour, ensuring you’ll see everything with personalised attention from your guide.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.
Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.
Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
