According to a recent study conducted by international marketing firm Hubstop, Amsterdam is the best tech city in Europe to work in. The city was awarded this title for several reasons including high average salaries, excellent internet services and impressive living standards.
For their study Hubstop conducted research in several major urban centres throughout Europe including Dublin, London, Paris and Berlin to discover what makes these cities an attractive place for companies and professionals working in the tech industries. This research revolved around numerous metrics related to technology and business, such as local start-up funding projects, mobile internet speed and average rental prices.
Hubstop also conducted surveys with residents to discern important factors associated with each city’s ability to accommodate businesses and took into account whether or not people believe that their local tech scene is currently developing in the right direction.

Mobile internet speeds in each city were factored into Hubstop’s research

After reviewing this data, Hubstop found that Amsterdam possessed some pretty impressive attributes that make it a particularly hospitable place for tech professionals. For instance, even though living standards in Berlin are famously high, Hubstop found that conditions in Amsterdam may actually be better and the Dutch city scored three points more on this index than its German counterpart.

Living standards in Amsterdam are very high

Furthermore average monthly salaries in Amsterdam level out at €4,036 whereas people working the same kind of jobs in London usually take home around €3,524. Amsterdam’s mobile internet speed also played a role within these results and data access in the city clocks in at 29 MB/s – far surpassing the city’s closest competitor Paris, where rates average at 19 MB/s.
These results made Amsterdam the clear winner when it came to working environments and Hubstop decided to award it the title ‘The Best European Tech City to Work In’.
