The Best Cheap Hotels in Santa Eulalia, Ibiza
This smart enclave of the Balearic’s buzziest island is home to several affordable hotels, ideal for families and couples seeking a budget-friendly yet relaxing White Isle escape.
On the island’s sunny southeastern side, Ibiza’s third-biggest town is an oasis of calm away from the party-loving resorts further down the coast. The whitewashed Puig de Missa fortified church stands on a hill above the town, there’s an Ethnographic Museum in an old farmhouse and a colonnaded town hall overlooking the main square. With a palm-lined seafront promenade and white-sand beach, the town’s hotels, bars and traditional restaurants fan out around the water and the yacht-dotted marina. Family-friendly and leisurely, but heading inexorably upmarket, Santa Eulalia retains a range of places to stay suitable for all budgets.
Hostal Mar y Huerta
Hostel
Just a few steps from the door of this lodging house are the pine-fringed sands of Es Canar beach with its cluster of sun loungers, colourful pedalos and views across to the rocky Illa des Canar. Many of the light, airy rooms, which display giant photos of local beauty spots, have sea views and balconies. With a decent pool and all-day bar, you hardly need to step outside. When you do, it’s a 15-minute walk along the coast to the original Punta Arabí Hippy Market, where the sound of drumming and smells of incense and grilled food float among the tents of multihued cloth and jewellery stalls.
Hostal Restaurante Pou Des Lleó
Hostel
The view from the beachside Pou des Lleó restaurant is a Shirley Valentine-style idyll of rocky shore, drifting boats and turquoise water. Big pans of saffron-gilded paella are a speciality here, bursting with mussels, prawns and fresh herbs, along with Ibizan bullit de peix (fish stew) cooked with garlic, tomatoes and green peppers. The airy bedrooms and outdoor spaces, including a tree-ringed pool, match the food for taste; they’re newly renovated to show off beams, wood floors, marble basins and accessories including ceramic tiles and driftwood-framed mirrors.
Hotel Apartamentos El Pinar
Hotel
Sun-seeking families rather than stag nights are the target market for this large but relatively peaceful hotel, 2mi (3km) south of Santa Eulalia. There’s a tennis court, a large flower-fringed sun terrace with a pool complete with towels and a lifeguard on hand. Kids will enjoy the playground whilst the hotel is just a short way up a pine-shaded road from the wide, sandy Cala Llonga. The hotel’s beachside Es Purchet restaurant offers local rice and fish dishes with views directly out across the bay and to the wooded hills beyond.

The highlight, however, is the lush garden with sun loungers and a large pool.
