With year-round sunshine, white sand beaches, pretty ports and picturesque seafood restaurants, the Balearic Islands are a dream destination for anyone yearning for a grown-up break. Here are the best adults-only Balearic Island hotels, all bookable on Culture Trip.

East of mainland Spain, the four primary islands that make up the Balearics are Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Each offers plenty to help grown-ups unwind, including hiking trails, spas, watersports, boutique shopping and waterfront nightclubs, alongside adults-only hotels where you won’t be fighting toddlers for pool space.

Golfers, spa devotees and anyone needing to escape it all can hunker down at this exquisite five-star hotel on the Balearic Island of Mallorca, 200m (656ft) from Can Simoneta. Hugged by woodland and overlooking the sea, it’s close to top golf courses but also offers preened gardens, two infinity pools with Balinese beds, exclusive access to the Sa Cova dels Albardans beach, a cute-as-a-button wellness centre, its very own yacht and 30 minimalist suites surrounded by pine trees.

Locations don’t get much better than this adults-only hotel in Menorca a short footbridge from the sugar-white Cala Galdana beach. If you prefer to stay within cocktail-grabbing distance of the hotel, pull up a lounger at the curved pool overlooking the sea or visit the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa. More active types can kayak, dive or join a guided walk around the horseshoe cove and dinky local port.

There’s no chance active adults will be bored at this grand hotel in Menorca close to the beaches of Cala’n Bosch and Son Xoriguer. There’s a shuttle service to historic Ciutadella, the Cami de Cavalls hiking trail is on the doorstep, and the hotel offers all sorts of excursions and watersports. However, no one will judge if you don’t go further than the tranquil pool backed by immaculate gardens, conveniently close to the outstanding wellness centre, which offers yoga lessons, indoor and outdoor pools and even a hairdresser.
