Café del Mar Club
This is without a doubt the hottest new addition to Barcelona’s beach bar scene. The iconic Ibizan institution Café del Mar opened its doors in May this year and is fast becoming the favourite hang-out of the city’s young, rich and fun-lovers. The club has a private swimming pool with luxury beds around it, perfect for topping up your tan. Of course Café del Mar wouldn’t what it is if it wasn’t for the music – there are live DJs performing daily throughout the Summer.
Vai Moana
The Bogatell is considered the locals beach in Barcelona, quieter and more casual than the beaches near the Barceloneta. This is reflected in the atmosphere of the beach bars that can be found there, of which Vai Moana is a local favourite. Its success is probably down to the combination of freshly prepared food, easy-drinking cocktails and friendly service and of course its location right on the beach-front.
Chiringuito Begay
This is the perfect place to hang out if you’re looking for a fun, friendly atmosphere and an eclectic crowd of locals and travellers. The Chiringuito Begay is an LGBT-friendly bar located just by the nudist section of the Mar Bella beach and is known for its lively parties and special events organised throughout the warmer months. On the other hand, this is also a great breakfast spot offering fresh juices, smoothies and pastries with an amazing view.
The Coconut Club
A Caribbean-inspired bar and restaurant, The Coconut Club is a trendy beach-side hang-out with an exotic feel. Located alongside the night-clubs and lounges which line the Port Olimpic, this venue has an altogether more relaxed atmosphere than its neighbours and manages to draw in locals as well as tourists from the beach. On the menu you’ll find everything from grilled sandwiches and nachos to healthy salads – all with a Caribbean twist.
