If you’re in the midst of a hectic Madrid trip and you’d like to take a moment to slow down and relax, check out one of these fantastic yoga classes to get a little bit of zen back into your life.

Zentro Yoga

If you’re searching for variety, give Zentro Yoga a try, as they offer many different styles of yoga such as Yin, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, plus pilates and TRX classes. Just walking into the simple, light-filled studio with exposed brick walls will immediately create a sense of inner peace. You’ll be able to try out a variety of classes with different teachers in order to find out which style you enjoy the most. If you need some serious flow, a Vinyasa class with Almudena Sánchez will prove particularly invigorating. The studio also offers retreats and workshops on a regular basis.

The Natural Yogi

The Natural Yogi offers spring, summer and fall classes in the Parque del Buen Retiro. There’s nothing better than stretching and strengthening your core as birds chirp and the wind blows through your hair. What’s more, you don’t have to worry about not understanding Spanish instructions, as the classes are taught in English. Founded by Eliza Coolsma, the focus of these Vinyasa classes is on energy building, flow and movement. She offers options for beginners, advanced practitioners and even prenatal yoga for those expecting a little one. In the winter, classes are held in a charming little studio in the neighborhood of Malasaña. Eliza emits a sense of calm that makes you feel safe and well looked-after, and luckily she has a YouTube channel, so once you leave Madrid you can still do her classes at home.

City Yoga

City Yoga is one of Madrid’s largest yoga spots. Their 500-square meter space is made up of five different rooms and a reception area where you can enjoy natural juices or a healthy snack post-class. Whereas the studio mainly focuses on Ashtanga yoga, they also do mindfulness workshops and classes, and there are even special classes for kids and adolescents. Located right in the middle of the city center, City Yoga also has massages available if you’ve taken things a little too far in Ashtanga class.

Viva Yoga Sculpt by Stacy Viva

Stacy Viva is a Californian living in Madrid, offering a very unique type of class: yoga with weights! Passionate about fitness, Stacy believes yoga should be about relaxation, but also about sculpting and toning your body. Her dynamic Viva Yoga Sculpt classes (offered in English and Spanish) work every muscle in the body over the course of just one hour. Stacy offers these classes at a few different studios around Madrid, like House of Beauty and iQtra, among others. Her unique energy will uplift you during class and inspire you to strengthen both your mind and body.

Tortuga Soul

Tortuga Soul offers dynamic Vinyasa yoga classes taught Melanie Maness Iznaola in both English and Spanish. Melanie, who spent many years working as an ER nurse, really understands the body and emphasizes form and injury prevention during her classes. Don’t be surprised if she identifies your ailments just by looking at your posture or stance, and of course, offers a pose or stretch that can help fix them. Melanie will challenge you to push your limits, but never in the name of sacrificing form. You can find her classes at Centro Namaste in the Northeastern part of town.
