Bratislava, the capital city of a country whose traditional cuisine is very focused on meat, is not famous for being a vegetarian friendly metropolis. However, it’s reputation is changing. Over the past few years, several new hotspots have opened up serving fresh, locally sourced, seasonal, meat free cuisine; offering beautifully crafted dishes that can be enjoyed by carnivores as well. If you are looking for the best restaurants which cater to vegetarians and vegans in Bratislava, here are our recommendations.

Thali

Restaurant, Indian, Vegetarian, Asian, Vegan, Slovakian

This Indian and Thai food inspired vegetarian restaurant is so popular that it now has six locations throughout Bratislava. A popular pick for young working professionals, the restaurant offers freshly prepared veggie curries with rice or noodles for eating in the restaurant or to take away. You select what and how much you want from a small buffet, and then you pay according to the weight of the food you’ve selected.

Green Buddha

Bistro, Restaurant, Thai, Healthy, Asian, Fusion

This Thai food restaurant has clearly marked vegetarian options available on their menu, including favorites like phad thai, jasmine rice, soups, curries, and salads. The food is always presented beautifully with visually appealing accents. The menu is available in Slovak and English, so you will be able to understand exactly what you are ordering. The friendly staff is very attentive, and the restaurant even has biological wine on offer.

Vegan Bar

Restaurant, Fusion, Vegan, Slovakian

This small cafe offers a regularly changing daily menu of one freshly prepared soup and main dish. The main dishes often involves a flavorful variety of veggies, rice, beans, and tofu. Most people take their lunch to go, but it’s also possible to dine in. Everyone raves about their desserts, so be sure to sample the daily cookie or cake on offer.

Made with Laf

FrangiPani Vitality Bar

Stop by in the afternoon for a cappuccino and slice of delicious cake… but good luck choosing which one to try, as each cake looks beautiful!

Bemba

You’ll need to take the tram about 10 minutes from the city center to reach this restaurant which serves exclusively raw food. Alternatively, you can order delivery from Bemba using Food Taxi or Ham food delivery services. Just because the food is raw does not mean it is boring or bland. Try the raw pizza with gold flaxseeds, peanuts, cashews, dried tomatoes, avocados, and marinated mushrooms.

Urban House

Restaurant, Bistro, Cafe, Fusion, Contemporary, European, Vegetarian, Vegan

Although not exclusively vegetarian or vegan, Urban House caters to both types of dietary restrictions with clearly marked options on the menu. The vegan avocado toast with tomatoes and basil is perfectly complimented by the Vanilla Basil Smash cocktail on a warm summer evening sitting outdoors. But Urban House also offers fabulous breakfast options such as poached egg on avocado toast and homemade granola with Greek yogurt and house made jam.

Mondieu

Cafe, Restaurant, French, Healthy, European

When Mondieu started serving breakfasts and brunches that outdid the competition by a landslide, their cafe was full every day of the week. Due to their immense popularity, Mondieu now has four locations in Bratislava and one in Kosice. The best location is at Laurinska 7, in the heart of the Old Town. The menu features photos of all of their delicious dishes, making it even harder to decide what to order. There’s a full range of creative salads and freshly squeezed juices to choose from.
