The largest city in Russia’s Ural region, Yekaterinburg is among the most important cities in the country; a vibrant city, with an intriguing history to uncover. Built on the Romanov death site, the Church of All Saints is one of the main landmarks in the city, but there are many other significant museums and historic places to explore. As a stopover on the Trans-Siberian journey, you will likely stay in the city for a day or two. Staying outside the city centre means that you’ll get to enjoy a quiet neighbourhood, but if you prefer the bustle of downtown, there’s a handful of budget hotels there, too.

You’ve access to the commercial area developed around the train station, with plenty of shops at hand. Rooms are clean and simply furnished and there is everything you could need at hand, including a fridge and air conditioning. Breakfast and dinner are served on the ground floor as an open buffet.

It’s close to Shartash Lake and its pebbled beaches, so if you’re coming in summer, you can easily go for a refreshing swim. Rooms are clean, comfortable and fully equipped, with a mini-fridge, an electric kettle and a tea set included.

The hostel is on the 7th floor of a centrally located building with city views, next to a dendrological park and a shopping centre with a hypermarket in the Grinvich quarter. Dormitories are mixed and each one has its own set of lockers with keys. Beds are arranged in box-like fashion, so you can just pull the curtains whenever you want to get some sleep or privacy. There’s a large common area with a functional kitchen, eating areas and a TV ringed by comfortable sofas. Once you go out and cross the nearby Iset River, you can easily walk to all sights in the city.
