Coffee and tea are two of the most popular drinks in this world. Millions of people can’t imagine starting their day without a cup of fresh aromatic coffee. St Petersburgers are no exception. In fact, local café owners have approached coffee with true St Petersburg creativity, coming up with unusual and artistic recipes. Check out our list of the best places in town for a coffee break.

1. Double B

Cafe, Coffee Shop, Dessert

This coffee shop chain is a real must-visit for all coffee lovers. Their menu offers one of the widest selections of coffee beans, as well as unique recipes and unusual combinations. This was the first coffee shop in St Petersburg to offer the Lavender Raf coffee – which is one of the top choices on their menu and still the best in town.

2. Rudy's Coffee to Go

Coffee Shop, Cafe, Dessert

What was once a police checkpoint has now become a cozy and atmospheric spot for coffee to go. A great place to pass by and get a coffee while having a stroll in the city centre. Apart from the classics, they offer unusual options such as a Rosemary Raf coffee and a hot cocoa with rosemary and hot cayenne pepper.

3. Grand Cafe Frida

Cafe, Restaurant, Vegetarian, European, Mexican

This vegetarian café is a true example of a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The interior, decorated with reproductions of Frida Kahlo paintings, brings inspiration and an artistic ambience. Here, you can try a coffee prepared with a vintage coffee machine from 1961 and Turkish-style coffee, prepared on hot sand.

5. A coffee on the kitchen

Cafe, Dessert

The entire interior of this café was created by the owners of the place, and as a result it really resembles someone’s house or kitchen. The venue is spacious, so if you come with a group of friends, there will always be a table. They also sell coffee beans for those who want to repeat the experience at home.

6. Espresso Bike

Cafe, Dessert

The owners of this coffee shop purchase beans from one of the best coffee providers in Russia, thus guaranteeing the highest standard in terms of taste. Also, at Espresso Bike they brew coffee in a variety of different ways: traditional espresso, AeroPress, Hario, Chemex and others. If all these terms seem confusing, the friendly baristas will be happy to explain all the details and differences between the brewing methods.
