Though nothing can compare to watching an important game in a stadium, experiencing the atmosphere in a sports bar on match day is an event in itself. If you’re headed to FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia and happen to find yourself in Saransk with an evening off, here are the best sports bars in town.

1. Trattoria Parmigiano

Restaurant, Italian

This spot is an Italian restaurant in the city centre with an interior befitting the height of Italian Renaissance. A screen or two have found their way here nonetheless, making it a perfect place for a relaxed evening with beautiful food and a game playing in the background.

2. Liga

Bar, Contemporary

If you’re looking for a more community-oriented sports experience, Liga is the place to go. Hidden in a residential street, it’s much-loved by locals and has a number of screens. A wide selection of beer, snacks and main courses make watching the games here almost better than at the stadium.

3. Rozmarin

Restaurant, Gastropub, Contemporary, European

Rozmarin is located a little bit further away from the city centre, but it is most certainly worth the trip. The interior is modern, yet cosy, the food is delicious, and the games are shown on a huge projection screen. There is a special children’s menu available, so it is a perfect spot to watch a game with the family.

5. Bardak

Restaurant, Russian

This spot is very community-orientated, organising karaoke nights and children’s events, as well as sports events screenings for its patrons. A place to go if you crave a genuinely local experience.

6. Harat's

Pub, Irish, Russian, European

Harat’s is an Irish pub well-equipped to screen sports events. Their large projection screen and several television sets make the goals impossible to miss. Regular special offers on food and beer are always available, even during big sports tournaments. A great, great place to watch a game at.
