Lisbon’s club scene is pretty hot, with musical styles ranging from African to Brazilian to rock and pop. When you really want to shake your tail feather, however, sometimes an electronic music mix is the way to go. When you want to dance the night away well into the morning, here are a few of Lisbon’s top spots for electronic tunes.
One of the best night clubs in Lisbon is also one of the easiest to find, located near the Santa Ápolónia train and metro station (a terminal stop off of the metro’s blue line). Housed within an old warehouse, Lux is composed of three floors: for dancing, stick to the first floor, the second floor is the bar, and the top floor is the terrace. Musical styles range from techno and house to popular culture and everything in between, and although Lux regularly schedules local DJs, a few international DJs have also been known to make appearances. This is also an ideal location for a view, and the rooftop terrace provides a relaxing break from dancing where fresh air is paired with a view of the stars and the Tagus River.
Incógnito
Nightclub, Beer, Wine, Cocktails
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning one of Lisbon’s most popular nightlife neighborhoods, Bairro Alto. Also three floors high, each level at Incógnito is dedicated to its own vibe and the dancing is mostly maintained on the first floor/basement. As the club’s name suggests, the building from the outside is unassuming in the true Bairro Alto way, and Incógnito may be a bit tricky to find for first timers. Once inside, expect an eclectic mix of musical styles including 80s pop, alternative, indie and rock, from a dance floor under neon beams of light.
Near the Cais do Sodré train and metro station is the Music Box, which doesn’t favor one or a couple musical styles, but offers a wide variety including both DJs and live acts. If you decide to visit this location, don’t look for a sign because there isn’t one; instead look for an arched doorway under a bridge on a pink street (the street is actually called Pink Street, or Rua Cor de Rosa), which gives the venue both a mysterious and local feel. In addition to acting as a night club, the Music Box hosts multiple media-based and social events.
Ministerium is located in the heart of Lisbon’s historic downtown, just off to the side of the Praça do Commercio. Dance to the sounds of house and techno in an old, 18th-century finance building. Unfortunately, the club is only open on Saturdays, but that doesn’t prevent this spot from being one of the cooler locations in the city – the historic building definitely helps. In true Lisbon fashion, this is another venue with a rooftop terrace where party-goers can enjoy some spectacular sights.
Dock’s Club
At Dock’s Club in Alcântara, the dance floor is surrounded by six bars, three VIP spots, and a terrace that overlooks the Tejo river. Inside the warehouse in which this club can be found, expect parties, theme nights, and live music in addition to DJs. Just keep in mind that this is a post-midnight venue, which is only open on Tuesday, Fridays and Saturdays.

A Capela
This small hot spot was once a chapel (hence the name “capela”) but is now one of the livelier clubs in Bairro Alto. One of the best parts about this club is its location near many bars including Tasca do Chico, BA Wine Bar and The Old Pharmacy, so you can pop inside for some dancing to a mix of classics when drinking and socializing gets a bit old. The owner is the resident DJ, but sometimes A Capela will host other DJs from the Lisbon area.
K Urban Beach
Does moving around throughout the night deter you from the club scene? What if you could plan for dinner, post-dinner drinks, and dancing all in one location? K Urban Beach is a restaurant, lounge bar, and dance club all in one! It is also located on the sandy banks of the river in Alcântara, offering a “beach theme” that adds to its sophisticated club-like allure (which includes a pool and chaise lounges). K Urban Beach usually hosts events, but it’s open to anyone wanting a chill, trendy environment and who is dressed to match the sophisticated vibe.
This last cool spot features three Main zones: Zero – where you can dance to techno-house, pop, and R&B styles on the first floor; Room – which offers heavier beats and a more club-like scene on the second floor; and Air – with a Japanese kitchen during the evening and terrace with soothing international rhythms at night. Located across a busy street from K Urban Beach, the only unfortunate aspect to Main is that it’s only open during a few nights a week. It is open on Saturdays, however, from 11:30PM to 6AM.
