You needn’t forgo your daily asanas while visiting Lisbon – the city is a great spot to meet other yogis and work out in some beautiful locations, including by the river and in a few of the local parks. However, sometimes it’s best to focus indoors, so here is a list of the top yoga studios to check out in Lisbon.

Casa Vinyasa - Ashtanga Yoga Shala

Located at the higher end of the trendy Avenida da Liberdade, across the street from Parque Eduardo VII, the Casa Vinyasa studio is essentially a beautifully decorated apartment, adding a cosy element to the experience. Different levels of Ashtanga classes are conducted in Portuguese and English, and students can sign up to receive email updates in English too, so don’t worry if you don’t speak Portuguese. During the Mysore sessions – which are recommended for beginners – students also receive some individual attention, very helpful when learning the different poses.

Little Yoga Space

Anyone looking for more than a few weekly classes should look into joining a yoga community, such as the Little Yoga Space. The studio is located in the heart of Lisbon, in the middle of Chiado and just a few minutes’ walk from Praça do Comércio. Their schedule includes Vinyasa, Hatha and Kundalini yoga classes, and they regularly organise events, workshops and retreats. Drop-ins can experience a class for €10 and there is a variety of monthly passes.

Gaia - Centro de Hatha Yoga

Located close to the Picoas metro station, the Gaia Centro de Hatha Yoga is another great spot for group and private classes that are offered in English. In this studio, expect to practice Iyengar Yoga routines, enabling yogis to learn proper posture and alignment in their poses.

Hot Yoga Lisboa

Yoga Studio

This was the first Bikram-style yoga studio to hit Portugal and it’s still one of the best for hot yoga in Lisbon today. These sessions, which last one hour and 30 minutes, are designed so both beginner and advanced students can make the most of their practice and reap the benefits of Bikram Yoga. Signing up for a class is easy and can be done online or in person, with two different introductory offers being available for new members (10 days and one month).

Yoga Integral de Portugal

Yoga Integral de Portugal offers a comprehensive experience covering a range of yoga techniques for very reasonable rates. Drop in for €5 or sign up to visit once, twice or three times per week for the monthly rates of €25, €35 or €50 respectively. Each session is one hour long. Located in Areeiro, it’s a short distance from downtown when taking the metro’s green line.

Centro de Yoga Sivananda Vedanta Lisboa

Finally, the Centro de Yoga Sivananda Vedanta Lisboa is located between the Alameda and Areeiro stops on the green line. To give it a try, sign up for a free session on their website. In addition to regular yoga, the centre offers meditation sessions and classes specifically designed for seniors and pregnant woman.
