Avenida da Liberdade is Lisbon’s high-end fashion center and a beautiful street to go for a stroll, making it an easy location to spend a day enjoying the sights. Why not grab a glass of wine to go with the view? To point you in the right direction, we have compiled a list of lovely spots where you can enjoy a delicious glass of Portuguese wine alongside Avenida da Liberdade’s spectacular backdrop, perfect for both day and night.

Sommelier Lisbon

Sommelier Lisbon isn’t just a wine bar and restaurant, it’s a self-proclaimed wine-loving community meant to bring people together over Portugal’s best vintages and blends. Open in the late afternoons and evening, this is an excellent spot to retreat to after a day of sightseeing. The food menu offers a Mediterranean mix and includes a degustation menu for guests who want to try more Portuguese flavors in one sitting. Even though the sophisticated cuisine can and will turn heads, the wine is the main reason to visit and Sommelier Lisbon occasionally schedules free tastings so keep an eye out on their website for the next date.

Sky Bar, Tivoli Hotel

Bar, Hotel Restaurant, Portuguese, Tapas

Located on the rooftop of the Tivoli Hotel, Sky Bar is one of the more popular, trendy and sophisticated hangouts in Avenida da Liberdade. Although it’s known for a wide selection of cocktails, the wine menu has some length, too, including sparkling wines in addition to reds, whites, and roses. Plus, guests will be able to enjoy one of the best views over Lisbon.

JNcQUOI

Bar, Restaurant, Wine Bar, Portuguese, European, Mediterranean

Where shall we start describing JNcQUOI? Only a year old, this luxury lifestyle concept venue is a hybrid boasting a restaurant, men’s clothing shop, French bakery, and bar all in one of Avenida da Liberdade’s historic buildings. Bright and chic, it is a beautiful space and the wine bar adds to the allure. This is where you’ll find one of Portugal’s longest wine lists with over 500 varieties and the charcuterie/cheese accompaniments add to the experience.

Winehouse and Rooftop Bar, Hotel Mundial

Bar, Cocktails

A short walk from lower Avenida da Liberdade, on the southern side of Martim Moniz square, is the Hotel Mundial where you’ll find a winehouse in addition to a sophisticated rooftop bar. Decorated with bright patio-style furniture, the latter is one of the city’s top hangouts, and the views extend to the Tagus River on one side and the city all around. For a savory afternoon, schedule a tasting downstairs and then head to the roof to enjoy the sights.

Garden Rooftop

Bar, Boutique Hotel Restaurant, Portuguese

In Lisbon, hotel rooftops are among the trendiest hangouts and here is one more. Just a couple of blocks from the northern end of Avenida da Liberdade, the Garden Rooftop will be found at the very top of Altis Hotel. Bright, modern, and surrounded by plants (hence the name), it is a beautiful place to sit, relax, and sip on some wine while reading a book, chatting with friends, or enjoying the spectacular view. This spot closes in the offseason, however, so look at the hotel website before heading over.

The Vintage Hotel

The Vintage Hotel is a 5-star accommodation located between Avenida da Liberdade and Rato metro stop. It is also a short walk from Principe Real and Bairro Alto, two of the best neighborhoods in terms of nightlife, but the hotel’s rooftop bar is also a great spot to sit and relax with some Portuguese vinho and petiscos (Portugal’s take on tapas).
