Sapataria do Carmo

Store

This boutique sells handmade shoes for both men and women and has been in business since 1904. That makes it one of the oldest fashion-related stores in the city. While walking through today, you may feel the shadows from a century ago, between the velvet chairs, mirrors surrounded in antique wood frames, and iron lettering on the walls. Men will love the modern handmade boots and classic derby shoes on the shelves, in addition to the oxfords and loafers. Situated near the ruins of the Carmo Convent, it’s easy to locate in the heart of the downtown.

Up!town Lisbon

A store with a theme like ‘be different, be unique, be yourself’ screams ‘one-of-a-kind’ clothing which will capture any shopper’s curiosity. Located near Chiado and Bairro Alto, this men’s only clothing store is as trendy as its surroundings and sells everything that a chap needs to complete a casual or conservative outfit, from head to toe. Shoes, hats, shirts, pants, you name it, Up!Town Lisbon most likely has it. Offering multiple brands, Up!town Lisbon has plenty of options for every sartorial style. It is also down the road from the Joel Reigota store, making it easy for you to store hop and maximise your shopping time.

Carhartt

If street-smart is what you’re looking for, head over to the other side of Chiado (near the Santa Justa Lift) and enter Carhartt, a North American chain that specializes specifically in rugged apparel. The international chain sells clothing for both men and women but the Lisbon branch is geared towards men. This trendy locale also sells pieces perfect for work, from pants to button downs and even knits.

Typographia

Is the man in your life a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy? If so, he may appreciate a uniquely designed t-shirt from Lisbon. The Portuguese capital is where this 7-year old project kicked off and stores can now be found in Porto, Madrid, Barcelona, and Mallorca. The prints are artistic and some even thought-provoking, drawing on inspiration from the city and across the globe. These aren’t your typical tees and common prints.

Mister Man is known for being sophisticated, elegant and a tad pricey. This is another store that sells multiple brands, all with a focus on top fashion styles. It has also been around for over 40 years, having opened in Chiado in the 1970s (a second store opened in the 1990s in the New Avenues district, away from downtown). Mister Man carries many styles for formal occasions and is worth checking out if you have a wedding or another formal event to attend.
