It started life as a quaint fishing village, but, over the centuries, Albuferia on the southern coast of Portugal has flourished into a bustling city with plenty of bars to quench your thirst. We’ve rounded up the best for you.

The coastal metropolis, fringed by golden beaches, is divided into two sections. The Old Town serves up cobbled streets, traditional architecture and a relaxed atmosphere, while the Strip is home to multiple bars, clubs and retail outlets. Work your way through the cocktail menu, with the Fancy Medina (a blend of gin, black tea, Moroccan spice syrup, lemon juice and egg white) and the Oriental Bramble (a combination of gin, ginger syrup, lime and blackberry liqueur) being two of the house favourites. The flavourful tagines here are also a must-try, while the shisha is popular among many guests.
