The city boasts a wide range of interesting curiosities, including a football stadium on an island, the best brewery in the region, a forest where Nazis killed innocent people and a pretty Old Town square. Within the huge complex, there is a large outdoor garden that holds an annual beer festival. There is a spa complex with a swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi, with massages available. Also included inside the hotel is a bowling alley and a bar. To top it all off, there is an excellent brewery on site, Browar Kociewski. It’s not obvious that there is an island in Starogard Gdański, but once you cross the northern bridge away from the main town square (Stary Rynek), you will find yourself on an island that houses a football stadium, a palace and a hotel. This is a budget hotel called Hotel Noclegi Rekord, and it overlooks a football stadium. As a bonus, the hotel also has a small museum dedicated to Kazimierz Deyna, a Polish Olympic Gold Medalist and footballer who helped his country finished third in the 1974 World Cup. The hotel has traditional yet basic rooms, offering reminders of Communist times. Most rooms have Wi-Fi.

On the outskirts of Starogard Gdański sits the Hotel Hubertus. This hotel is in a green, leafy area close to nature, but still close enough to the main sights of the town. It is a self-catering option with only three apartments available, so for festivals and summer events, it is advisable to book early. Rooms and bathrooms are cosy, and there is Wi-Fi throughout this no-frills venue. It was the first hostel in the city and is run by a local family.
