Rzeszów is the largest city in southeastern Poland and makes for a good stopover for those coming from Lviv in Ukraine. Trains and buses run daily from Rzeszów to Ukraine as well as Lublin, Warsaw and Kraków within Poland. For the intrepid budget backpacker to Rzeszów there are a few hostels in the city. The self-titled Hostel Rzeszów is the best option mostly due to its superb location. Like many of the best hotels, this budget hostel is right in the main square, known as the Stary Rynek. There is a sociable atmosphere in the venue, which has typical backpacker-style dorm rooms. The beds are wooden bunk beds, and all rooms have free Wi-Fi. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a common room, where you can relax on a comfortable couch, play board games, read a book, listen to music or mingle with fellow travellers and make new friends.

A good option for those wishing to stay a little outside the city centre in a more tranquil and peaceful location is the Hotel Zimowit, which is situated near the leafy Park Papieski. Rooms are elegant, and there is a popular restaurant in the hotel. All 54 rooms have free Wi-Fi, there is free parking available, and a free buffet breakfast included in the room price. A no-frills, budget option with a great location opposite Rzeszów train station is the Hotel Polonia. Expect basic and bright rooms with cosy beds and a simple bathroom. Hotel Polonia has free Wi-Fi in every room, a conference room and a restaurant. Breakfast is extra, but well priced at 15 złotych (US$4) per person, which includes a full buffet. There is a local shop in the same building as the hotel, which is a cheap and handy place to buy supplies for those moving onwards by train, either towards Kiev or Lviv in Ukraine or towards central Poland.
