The Best Yoga Studios in Leeuwarden, Netherlands

Like many other Dutch cities, Leeuwarden features numerous yoga studios that cater to students of all levels. As most of these studios offer one-off or beginners courses, it is possible for travellers with limited time in the city to join classes and get their yoga fix whilst exploring Leeuwarden.

Yoga Studio Veer

Art Gallery

Yoga Studio Veer can accommodate 12 people at one time and offers guests the opportunity to practise yoga within an intimate, cordial space alongside a small number of other participants. There are several packages available at Yoga Studio Veer, ranging from one-off lessons to fixed spots in the studio’s classes. Although the studio is slightly further afield than other entries on this list, it is nonetheless within kilometres from Leeuwarden’s city centre and easily accessible via public transport or bike.

Yoga Samtosa

Yoga Samtosa’s studio is located inside a narrow, renovated warehouse on Noordvliet – a long thoroughfare that trails westward from Leeuwarden’s city centre. The studio hosts approximately 20 lessons every week that involve different styles of yoga – including vinyasa, hatha and yin – and offers several different packages that are priced according to their duration (e.g. five lessons for €45). Aside from yoga lessons, the studio also organises mediation sessions where participants sit in silence, rest and learn to fully relax.

Prana Tempel Leeuwarden

Art Gallery

Prana Tempel Leeuwarden regularly organises additional mindfulness and meditations sessions aside from yoga lessons, including mantra chanting with live music and introductory hypnosis classes. Nonetheless, the studio’s calendar primarily revolves around yoga and features sessions that focus on specific schools such as hatha, kundalini and yin. These classes usually take place inside Prana Tempel’s main location on Fonteinland, and are led by professional, experienced instructors. It is possible to join most classes at the studio on a one-off basis, or commit to a 10-lesson program for €115.

Club Yoga

This down-to-earth yoga studio organises a wide range of practise sessions every week and lets clients join classes at their own leisure, without signing up for subsequent courses. The studio offers many different kinds of lessons that revolve around specific schools of yoga, skill levels and intensity (or lack thereof). As Club Yoga lies midway between Prinsentuin and Westerpark on the western side of Leeuwarden’s historic town walls, it is within walking distance from the city’s urban centre.

Hot Yoga Leeuwarden

Art Gallery

As its name suggests, this studio focuses on hot yoga and offers lessons that take place in rooms where the heat has been cranked up to 30 or 38 °C. These high temperatures obviously add another level of intensity to yoga classes and may help to facilitate participants’ metabolisms, muscles and movements. Trial lessons at Hot Yoga Leeuwarden only costs €9, and it is also possible to sign up for a three-class taster package for €28.

Yogacentrum Leeuwarden

Yoga Studio

Launched way back in 1996, Yogacentrum Leeuwarden is among the oldest yoga studios in the Netherlands. Although some aspects of the studio have changed over time, it has continued to offer ‘high-quality yoga in a no-nonsense atmosphere’ for the past 20 years (and counting). The studio hosts around 30 classes per week, including ones that are tailored around hatha, yin and chakra yoga. Yogacentrum Leeuwarden also organises a free sample session for newcomers every Thursday evening.
