Kingfisher Café

Bar, Restaurant, European

This famous local haunt attracts scores of customers every night of the week due to its excellent beer selection, tasty pub grub and lively atmosphere. Thankfully, there’s plenty of room inside Kingfisher Café and even more space outside on their terrace, which looks onto a charming thoroughfare called Ferdinand Bolstraat. The cafe usually has several Dutch or Belgian beers on tap and adds special seasonal brews to its menu at certain points throughout the year. Hungry patrons can order tasty typical Dutch snacks from the bar or chow down on full-blown meals like homemade beef burgers or spinach salads. The bar also sells awesome branded t-shirts stamped with its logo for only €20.

Glou Glou

Wine Bar, Snacks

This classy organic wine bar is located on a picturesque street that runs behind de Pijp’s only public park, Sarphatipark. Its menu always features an impressive range of old world and new world wines, which are exclusively produced by ecologically conscious vineyards. The bar’s lounge features rustic dark wood furniture and spills out onto a beautiful street-side terrace, complete with chairs and tables. Over the weekend, Glou Glou is open for lunch and serves delicious homemade meals.

Café Mazzeltof

Bar, European

In Amsterdam, old-school local pubs are commonly referred to as bruine cafes (brown cafes), due to their famously chestnut-toned interiors and furnishings. Café Mazzeltof definitely fits into this category and like other bruine cafes in the city, it maintains a down-to-earth yet friendly approach towards hospitality by offering clients a decent selection of beer, wines and spirits inside its cosy lounge. The cafe stays open much later than most other establishments in de Pijp during weekdays – making it perfect for night owls that want to experience Amsterdam’s late night bar scene.

As its name suggests, the bar is located on Hotel Okura’s 23rd floor and features wide windows that look onto central Amsterdam and its surroundings. Twenty Third Bar’s menu is expertly curated by a team of professional bartenders and wine specialists and its cocktails are prepared by experienced mixologists.

Café Flamingo

Bar, European

Though it may look rather small from the outside, this cosy cafe features two floors that are furnished with hardwood tables, chairs and bar stalls. However, anyone that prefers a little more space can enjoy their drinks (or food) outside on Café Flamingoes long terrace, which runs parallel to Albert Cuypmarkt. The cafe mainly serves beer created by breweries based in Amsterdam, but also has room on its menu for G&Ts, classic cocktails and small meals or snacks.

Since launching in 2014, Brouwerij Troost has created around 20 different craft beers, ranging from time-honed classics like IPA or pilsner to more experimental brews such as the brewery’s chocolatey milk stout or extra dark dubbelbock. Many of Brouwerij Troost’s creations are available on draft at its taproom in de Pijp always includes several seasonal beers that match the weather. This charming taproom is attached to Troost’s first brewery in Amsterdam, which is itself housed in a stunning Art Deco-era monastery.

Café Gollem

Craft Ale Bar, European

Café Gollem stocks over 300 different beers from the Benelux region and beyond. Though most of these brews are kept in bottles, Café Gollem usually has around eight beers on draft including several house specialities like its famous blonde ‘Precious’. The bar owns an incredible collection of unusually shaped glasses that are designed to hold and complement specific types of beers and are often stamped with their respective brewery’s logo. Aside from its amazing beer selection, Café Gollem also serves a decent range of spirits and has a small snack menu, which includes cheese plates and charcuterie-style dishes.
