The beautiful, neo-classical building on the northern side of Dam Square is actually the largest department store in Amsterdam. Besides clothing, de Bijenkorf also sells exclusive lifestyle and healthcare products.

Thanks to its impressive retail collection, barber salon and lunchroom, it is exceptionally easy to spend an entire afternoon inside Hotspot. This department store in de Pijp is renowned for its impressive range of urban lifestyle essentials and has a large, open plan café on its first floor, which makes a mean spinach tortilla.

The Scandinavian Embassy
Although the Scandinavian Embassy has always been ahead of the game when it comes to fashion, food and coffee, they recently began releasing their own seasonal clothing lines under the title SE: Wardrobe (formed by Dominika). These sharp, engaging designs are available from their flagship location in de Pijp, which also features an exceptional trendy coffee bar and a classy restaurant.

Tassenmuseum Hendrikje
Known in English as the Museum of Bags and Purses, the Tassenmuseum Hendrikje has one of the largest collections of historic, iconic and contemporary bags in the world, including several ridiculously famous items such as Madonna’s green Versace handbag and Judith Leiber’s Cupcake. The musuem regularly organises temporary exhibitions that focus on an specific aspect of their collection’s cultural impact and heritage.

ByAMFI: The Statement Store
Amsterdam’s famed fashion school AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) has a small showroom on Spuiplein. This statement store exclusively presents designs from the school’s students, alumni or teachers and always regularly features interesting, modern clothing lines. As the store is a platform for innovative designs, most of its collections are exceptionally exclusive and rarely appear anywhere else.
