Amid the glamour and madness of Monaco, you’ll be surprised at the intimate, peaceful spots that exist, perfect for that special proposal. Here are our favourite romantic corners in Monaco – from right on the water to perched high up with views of the Mediterranean.

Place du Palais

In front of the Prince’s Palace in Monaco‘s old town is a grand square. The square itself is usually busy with locals and tourists – it’s here where the Changing of the Guard takes place each day – but head to an ‘edge’ and you’ll see why this location has made our list. The view is simply incredible, looking out onto a lot of the principality below. There are some trees and seating, offering some privacy and a more intimate feel to what is a vast space.

Somewhere under the trees

There are so many gorgeous gardens in Monaco, consider escaping the urban jungle for a while and head towards some natural green. There is the Japanese Garden for some compact zen, or the Princesse Grace Rose Garden, which is visually beautiful and fragrant most months of the year.

Monte-Carlo Casino Gardens

For the true Monaco experience, consider a proposal in front of the iconic Monte-Carlo Casino. The Casino has some attractive gardens next to it, so if you want to hide away from the crowds then this is definitely the place to go. If being amid the hustle and bustle is more your preference, then you can’t beat the Café de Paris – which sits opposite – as it is quite the iconic place to have a drink in Monaco.

Find a view

Monaco has no shortage of views. Perched on the Mediterranean Sea, all you need to do is head up one of its stone staircases to come across a vista worthy of this special moment. There are some iconic views, sure, but the more ‘side street’, hidden ones are also pretty special. Keep an eye on the weather forecast, and if it looks to be fine, make sure to time the proposal with the sunset: it will make it even more memorable.

Fairmont Monte Carlo

Hotel

This is a very special hotel and one perfect for a proposal stay in Monaco. Make a full trip out of your single question by booking a room here. The hotel bar, Saphir 24, has particularly spectacular views, so a reservation here is ideal for that big moment – or even for before or after!

Cap-d'Ail

Cap-d’Ail borders Monaco on its western edge and it’s the perfect place to organise your special moment. The best bit about this location is that you can walk along the coastal path, right by the sea, leaving Monaco behind. Make a picnic and head off in the morning, spend the day on this beautiful part of the coast, and return to the bright lights for an evening of celebration after the ‘yes!’

Larvotto Beach

Last but by no means in any way least, Monaco’s beach, Larvotto, makes for the perfect proposal spot. It’s just far enough away from the real madness to feel that you have a little calm, while in reality it ‘ close to all the sights and sounds. This makes it easy to plan in as part of your stay – maybe an afternoon dip and a question after a morning of sightseeing? To make it extra special, reserve a spot on the private part of Larvotto beach and make reservations at Le Note Bleue for afterwards. http://instagram.com/p/BSL225dAeHJ/?tagged=monaco
