From the classical Palace of the Grand Dukes to the vibrant nightlife of Vilnius Street, there really is something for everyone when it comes to where to stay in Vilnius. Book a top hotel in the capital of Lithuania with Culture Trip and indulge your passion.

1. For the history buff - Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius

Not only is the Grand Hotel Kempinski in the heart of Vilnius’ Unesco-listed Old Town – within sight of Vilnius Cathedral, the Palace and surrounding historical sights – the hotel itself played a part in the history of the city. The location served as the Central Telegraph of Vilnius during the 20th century, and a period of renovations revealed a section of the 16th-century Vilnius defence wall that ran through it. A fragment of this wall is now on display near the entrance to the hotel restaurant.

2. For the foodie - Hotel Pacai

There is no shortage of choice for some of the best restaurants in Vilnius around the town centre. However, for the foodie traveller, a meal at Pacai’s in-house Muros Restaurant is a journey into gastronomy, inspired by the best steakhouses around the world. The seasonal menu features the freshest ingredients on top of a fine selection of steaks from Argentina, USA and Japan. Each one is cooked to perfection on a Montague broiler, with the cut seared at 1,000C (1,832F).

3. For the shopaholic - Urbihop Hotel

Beyond the usual attractions, Vilnius is a fantastic shopping destination. Shopaholics will be delighted to find large shopping malls and outlet centres such as Akropolis, Panorama and Ozas clustered in the north of the city. All your shopping desires are within a 3mi (4.8km) radius of the minimalist rooms at Urbihop. Head to the Restobar beforehand to grab a juice, and return to a comfortable bed at the end of the day.

4. For luxury lovers - Hotel Vilnia

Don’t be fooled by the old-fashioned exterior. Step into Hotel Vilnia and you’ll find luxurious rooms with a soft, modern design – think neutral tones and plush bedding – alongside traditional features such as herringbone floors. Book the suite for far-reaching city views. Unlike other luxury hotels that may feel a little cold in atmosphere, the friendly staff at Hotel Vilnia will make your stay feel like being with family.

5. For hipsters - Artagonist Art Hotel

Situated by the university and surrounded by youthful vibes, the Artagonist Art Hotel is aimed at your inner hipster, looking to be lured by the latest design trends. Stepping into the Artagonist is akin to being Alice jumping into a rabbit hole. You’ll find yourself surrounded by a world of murals and colourful statement pieces, leading from the reception to the corners of your room.

Whether it be a football match, beach volleyball tournament or major basketball battle, you can rest easy in this hotel knowing the games are just down the road.

7. For party animals - Hotel Congress Avenue

Near the party block confined by Islandijos and Vilnius streets, Hotel Congress Avenue is the place to crash after a good night out. Reserve a room with a balcony overlooking the Old Town, so you can heal that hangover and still enjoy the atmosphere of Vilnius. There’s also a hearty buffet breakfast served daily.

8. For culture vultures - Neringa Hotel

For those seeking a spot of culture, the relaxed Neringa Hotel on Gedimino Avenue is an ideal base. Within walking distance of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Vytautas Kasiulis Art Museum, you’ll be in the cultural heart of Vilnius. Rooms feature Scandi-style furnishings and crisp, feather-free bedding. Take your morning coffee on the terrace that peers out over the street and watch the world go by.

9. For nature fans - Downtown Forest Hostel & Camping

Nature camping in the capital of Lithuania? You read that right. In between the city centre and the expanse of the Pavilnys Regional Park is Downtown Forest Hostel & Camping. While not a forest by definition, the property and camp grounds are surrounded by a cluster of trees, providing a tranquil location in which you can feel away from the city, yet within reach of all the major attractions and facilities.
