The bohemian republic of Užupis is a popular place for visitors interested in art and unique shopping. Between popping into art galleries, shoe stores, and reading Užupis’ comical constitution, visitors might want to stop by one of its excellent restaurants for a meal or a snack.

1. Sweet Root

Restaurant, European

Sweet Root is one of the top restaurants in Vilnius and features an eclectic menu using seasonal, foraged, and self-grown produce. The inventive chefs dish up a seven-course menu, with the dinner lasting three hours. The menu changes frequently depending on the season, but dishes might include ingredients such as beetroots, black radish, trout, turnip, rabbit, quince, and much more. Make a reservation beforehand to ensure you have the opportunity to try a meal here.

Maghrib is the only Moroccan restaurant in Vilnius. The cozy interior has few seats, and serves up delicious couscous, healthy vegetarian food, and succulent meat dishes. The delicious tajines pack a punch of flavor, and the mint tea poured from a silver pitcher is a perfect accompaniment to any meal. Visitors looking for a tasty dinner in a cozy restaurant should consider paying a visit to Maghrib.

3. Užupio Klasika

As the name suggests, Užupio Klasika serves up traditional fare, but it does so extremely well. The romantic interior only fits a few tables, adorned with long tablecloths and flickering candles. The small menu features classics like juicy stuffed chicken with vegetables, fish, and an incredible chocolate fondant that is worth the 15 to 20 minutes it takes to bake from scratch.

5. Thierry Kepykla

Bakery, Pastry Shop, Cafe, Pastries, Dessert, Fast Food

Thierry Kepykla is a great option for visitors seeking a light lunch or snack. Directly across the street from Užupio Klasika, Thierry Kepykla is a small café serving soup, sandwiches, pre-made single-serving pizzas, and numerous pastries. The café is a cozy spot to catch up with friends and review the map of Vilnius before setting off on more sightseeing.

6. Bel Ami

Restaurant, European

Bel Ami is a highly rated restaurant in Užupis serving European cuisine. The menu is small but features pasta, meat and fish dishes, and local desserts. The exposed stone interior walls produce a cozy atmosphere, perfect for dates or any meal out. Dishes such as pea soup with chorizo and baked fish with potato purée are highly rated.
