Taverna Giannis
Restaurant, European
Hikers will fall in love with Taverna Giannis and not just because it’s situated in prime hiking territory. If you’re looking for Greek comfort foods, you’re most certainly going to find them here (just follow the smell of roast chicken and pork). Vegetarians will also find plenty to eat including the fresh bean salad with generous heaps of feta (we’re drooling already). Lunch ends at 3pm, so make sure to grab a table (reservations aren’t necessary) and to bring cash with you (it doesn’t take cards). Recommended by local insider Ellie Dumper
Metaxi Mas
Restaurant, Greek, Authentic

Some of the best dining spots are found when wandering down tucked-away side streets and, in Naxos, you’ll discover this rustic gem smuggled away from the throngs of tourists. Pamper yourself with some home-cooked taverna specialties all year round. Local favourites include grilled octopus, fried calamari, lamb and cheese drizzled with honey. You won’t find more traditional and reasonably priced Greek foods with generous portions than at Metaxi Mas. Recommended by local insider Charlie Bush

We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way.
