Opened in 2017, Meerkat Cocktail Safari bar is one of Koukaki’s latest additions to the Greek capital’s bar scene. And this little gem has since proven that it deserves to become the new talk of the town. Inside its safari-inspired decor, Meerkat offers a unique concept unheard of in Greece.

Here, you can jump behind the bar and prepare your own cocktail with the help of one of their skilled mixologists. Whether you want to try your hand at a classic or would like to try something new, you are the one who controls the whole preparation. Sounds too good to be true? Well, we promise it isn’t.

Owner Romain Krot and his wife Christina are the brains behind this unique DIY approach to cocktails. Though the idea may sound weird for some, Romain always dreamed of opening his own bar and allowing customers to feel in charge, by putting together their own drinks. Not that the expert staff will sit back and relax, simply put, customers will have a say in what they order. If they enjoy it, they can go home and recreate their creation for themselves and their friends during their next dinner party.

The process is simple. All you have to do is to ask for the ‘Jump Behind the Bar’ leaflet and answer the questions on it. Don’t be surprised if you need to answer what mood you are in or what your tastes are. Your answers will help the staff determine what alcohol base and ingredients to use to create your own custom-made cocktail. Once you approve their suggestions, the appointed bartender will invite you to join them behind the bar and guide you step by step to help you create the cocktail of your dreams. Even better, if your recipe impresses the staff, they might even add it to the menu!
