Holidays in Greece are ideal for everybody. Whether you are a watersports enthusiast, a sun worshipper, a history buff or a nature lover, Greece has it all. Even better, if you wish to combine sun vacation with a little golf. While the sport has recently gained some popularity, there are only eight golf courses spread out across the country. Nonetheless, here are the beautiful golf havens on offer.

Glyfada Golf Course

The first golf course in the country, the Glyfada course is located in the southern suburbs of Athens, often dubbed the Greek Hamptons. Opened in 1966, the Glyfada Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course which often hosts international golf events as well as golf cultural awareness. Easily accessible by car or even public transport, the club also includes two tennis courts, a restaurant and bar, beside the main course and practice range areas. A perfect destination for golf lovers and their family and friends.

Costa Navarino - The Dunes Course

Costa Navarino – The Dunes Course

Peloponnese also has its set of golf courses. For a world-class golf experience, Costa Navarino is the answer. The Dunes Course is Greece’s first signature-designed golf course, which opened in 2010. Designed by none other than Bernhard Langer, two-time US Masters Champion, in collaboration with European Golf Design, the Dunes Course is located in an idyllic setting near the luxurious resorts. This 18-hole, par-72 course has been designed to form a links course with dunes to separate the holes near the sea. A favorite among golfers, the Dunes Course is definitely a must-see.

The first golf course in Northern Greece, the Porto Carras is an 18-hole course situated in the seaside resort of Neos Marmaras in Halkidiki. Blessed with warm summers and mild winters, the golf course is open all year round. Set in sunny Crete, near Hersonissos, the Crete Golf Club stands out from the rest of the courses in Greece. Designed by the golf course architect Bob Hunt in 2003, the desert 18-hole course is surrounded by a spectacular and breathtaking landscape of mountains. Equipped with modern facilities, the Crete Golf Club is open 365 days a year thanks to the mild climate the island enjoys. As such, it is a favorite among golf enthusiasts and with its pro shop, opulent clubhouse and delicious restaurant, the Crete Golf Club is undeniably a major player on the Greek golf scene.

Also located in Crete, the Porto Elounda Golf Course is a nine-hole par-three course, where a handicap of 54 is required for guests of the hotel. With different tee-boxes per hole, the course is fair enough for those who wish to practice their favourite sport without leaving the premises, or for beginners. You can choose to set up a personal lesson with a professional player to learn or practice new tactics. Of course, for the more advanced, the Crete Golf Course is only a 30-minute drive away. If you are a guest at Porto Elounda, you even benefit from special rates.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
