Holidays in Greece are ideal for everybody. Whether you are a watersports enthusiast, a sun worshipper, a history buff or a nature lover, Greece has it all. Even better, if you wish to combine sun vacation with a little golf. While the sport has recently gained some popularity, there are only eight golf courses spread out across the country. Nonetheless, here are the beautiful golf havens on offer.

Glyfada Golf Course

The first golf course in the country, the Glyfada course is located in the southern suburbs of Athens, often dubbed the Greek Hamptons. Opened in 1966, the Glyfada Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course which often hosts international golf events as well as golf cultural awareness. Easily accessible by car or even public transport, the club also includes two tennis courts, a restaurant and bar, beside the main course and practice range areas. A perfect destination for golf lovers and their family and friends.

Costa Navarino - The Dunes Course

Peloponnese also has its set of golf courses. For a world-class golf experience, Costa Navarino is the answer. The Dunes Course is Greece’s first signature-designed golf course, which opened in 2010. Designed by none other than Bernhard Langer, two-time US Masters Champion, in collaboration with European Golf Design, the Dunes Course is located in an idyllic setting near the luxurious resorts. This 18-hole, par-72 course has been designed to form a links course with dunes to separate the holes near the sea. A favorite among golfers, the Dunes Course is definitely a must-see.

Costa Navarino - The Bay Course

Also situated in the splendid Costa Navarino resort, the Bay Course is the Navarino Bay’s second signature course and was designed by Robert Trent Jones II. This 18-hole, 71 par is a seaside golf course, perfect for players of all experience levels. Offering a different setting from its brother, the Bay Course has spectacular views over the sea and the Bay of Navarino. Located very close to the resorts, the golf course boasts professional coaches, world-class services and even a pro shop and restaurants as well.

Afandou Golf Course

If you think you can only golf in mainland Greece, think again. Located in the picturesque island of Rhodes, the Afandou golf course is one of the best in Greece. The 18-hole golf course, opened since 1973 and designed by British golf architect Donald Harradine, presents an interesting and fun challenge for golfers of all levels. Ideal for playing all year round, the course is well maintained and offers quality services at affordable prices. Perfect if you are a first-timer.

Boasting small lakes, sand traps and other features, the course is open in the winter and the summer.

Porto Carras Golf Course

Designed by Geoffrey S. Cornish and William G. Robinson, the Porto Carras Golf Course was inaugurated in 1973 and renovated in 2003 by Roy Mc Rayis.
