After encountering a new love interest at one of Berlin’s many nightlife spots, it is time to show them you actually exist outside of an electro-infused atmosphere by spending time with them in a different setting, perhaps even during the daytime. Here are seven ideas that are sure to swoon your new Berliner beau.

Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.

Catch a flick at Kino International

While seeing a movie on a date is one of the most basic options out there, doing so at Berlin’s famed Kino International takes things to the next level with its glamorous 60s interior and retro Soviet era façade. Plus, the films here are expertly curated, featuring indies and foreign pictures galore. Even if both of you have the first date jitters, the incredible ambiance is something your love interest is sure to remember. If you don’t see anything on the schedule that you fancy, be sure to check out some of the other Yorck Kino satellites dispersed around the city, all of course with the same old school charm.

Picnic and paddleboat at Treptower Park

Treptower Park, Berlin, Germany

Most Berliners will agree that when the weather is nice, as much time as possible ought to be spent outside enjoying it. Do so like a true local at Treptower Park. We recommend heading to one of Berlin’s many weekend markets for some tasty snacks and then finding a lush spot near the riverside promenade for a romantic afternoon together in the sunshine. The Jungen Insel at the end of the path along the river is a delight for many and totally worth the few extra minutes of walking. After you’ve both had your fill, consider renting a paddleboat and taking the date out on the water.

Cozy dinner at Vinieria Fraschetta

Another classic that’s sure to please is the traditional dinner date. While we love all of Berlin’s edgy, hip, and experimental establishments, perhaps taking that special someone to this cozy little Italian spot in Friedrichshain is even more original than trying to top the innumerable innovative experiences they’ve surely already had in Berlin. After all, if the food is amazing, who is going to complain? With its homemade seasonal menu and warm staff, Vineria Fraschetta is certain to please. Plus, this hidden gem harbors one of the most amorous auras of any restaurant in the city.

Coffee and Canal Date

Feeling nervous about a first date? Many suggest that engaging in an activity together will help take some of the pressure off when it comes to making good conversation. Get a bit of exercise and fresh air by taking a long stroll along the Landwehr Canal in Kreuzberg. You’ll get the blood flowing and have plenty of people watching to do, as confused tourists, determined joggers, and a whole slew of other characters share the paths with you. Start the walk on Paul Lincke Ufer so that you can grab an excellent coffee, made with love, from Companion Coffee. It could be just the right omen to start things off.

Sammlung Boros Collection

For the culture vultures and art enthusiasts among you, there are plenty of ways to channel the creative spirit of the city into an epic date in a place that could be termed, bunker chic (only in Berlin, right?). Whether you two are still getting to know each other or have been living together for years, a trip to the Sammlung Boros Collection will stimulate new conversation and surely expose the two of you to wonderful new curiosities. Not to mention, a trip here at least once is a must for anyone living in Berlin. Be warned, it is necessary to schedule an appointment here, often months in advance, but this will win you added points for thoughtfulness.

See a show at Privatclub

Believe it or not, there are more music genres to be enjoyed in Berlin than techno. While most youths in this city will agree that at least an occasional bout of clubbing in the city is a crucial part of the experience of living here, it’s always good to branch out and try different things. Privatclub in Kreuzberg is a venue that often hosts some of the most promising up-and-coming stars in a variety of different genres with an emphasis on indie music. It has a cool vintage feel, and it’s hard not to want to move a bit closer under the sultry glow of the red lights emanating throughout. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover one of your new favorite bands, and in total Berlin hipster style, you two will be able to boast that you liked them before they got popular.

Get dressed up and see a concert at the Philharmonic

Berlin Philharmonic

If you sense that the way to wow your date is to truly go highbrow, there’s no better choice than scoring some tickets for a concert at the Philharmonic. Getting dressed up and meeting for this enchanting experience will allow both of you to cross something off of what is invariably on most of our bucket lists. The Philharmonic is renowned as one of the best in the world, and this will surely convince your date that they are deserving of nothing less. Even the act of anticipation and donning some formal attire will make the whole thing feel that much more ceremonious, and if this is someone you’re serious about, why shouldn’t it?
