Since 2007, Record Store Day occurs yearly to celebrate independent record stores and the culture of vinyl. More than 3,000 stores worldwide participate, including those in Asia, Europe, and Australia. Many artists have come to release special limited editions on this day, and stores tend to host in-store gigs, events, or signings. Around 20 record shops in Berlin join in with the fun. The full list of participants isn’t available yet, but in 2015 the record shops were across the city: Mitte: The Record Store, Dussmann, Leila M., Musik Department, Kreuzberg: 33rpm Store, Core Tex Records, Fashion Killers, Schöneberg: Dodo Beach, Hurricane Records, Mr Dead & Mrs Free, Prenzlauer Berg: OYE Record Store, Vopo Records, Charlottenburg: music store, Oldschool, Friedrichshain: hhv.de Store and Neukölln’s Soultrade.
