The Best Brunch and Breakfast Spots in St Tropez

Sénéquier is an institution in St Tropez where it’s been on the quay for over a hundred years. It has lots of wonderful breads and pastries in the morning as well as serving delicious lunch and dinner. It’s one of the best places to watch the big boats come in and out. What’s more it makes and sells great nougat. A perfect brunch spot.

This is one of the most iconic restaurants in St Tropez. It opens at midday, so you may have to grab a croissant for breakfast beforehand, but it’s a great place for a late seafood brunch. It’s a two-star Michelin restaurant so expect a wine list and a bill to match. People keep going back for more.

In the 1950s, a Polish baker made a version of the French brioche, split it in two, and filled it with cream, made from his grandmother’s recipe. He was hired to feed the film crew for Brigitte Bardot’s break out movie that was filming on the beach in St Tropez. She fell in love with it, named it the “Tarte Tropézienne” and both became famous. This is the original bakery and it also sells other lovely pastries and breads – great for a breakfast or brunch that has become synonymous with the region.

In the 1800s, a pastry chef opened a tea room selling macarons and pastries in Paris. They now have lots of branches over France, but the one in St Tropez is a lovely spot. Head here for an amazing cup of tea and a little croissant, washed down with a delicious pastry.

Lots of locals think the “Tarte Tropézienne” made at this little bakery is actually better than the one at the original bakery. They also do some great little pastries for a wonderfully sweet French breakfast.

As its name suggests, Le Quai is situated on the famous quay of St Tropez. It’s open at 9.30am and it’s a great place to have an early morning croissant. But its speciality is sushi and seafood, as well as salads and fish. Watch the boats come in an out but be warned; its great location comes with a price tag to match.

L’Escale is another high-end restaurant/brasserie that’s perfect for Sunday mornings. Situated on the quay, where you can watch the boats and stars come and go, it’s a perfect place if you want a little seafood brunch or early lunch. It doesn’t really have a website and make sure you book for a great table.

Le Café is a great place for a late breakfast or brunch if you’re after some delicious pasta, salads or meat dishes. It’s situated in the main square in St Tropez so it’s wonderful to sit and watch the people play pétanques while you eat. It’s open all day but check out Facebook for regular updates.

If you’re looking for something a little more casual but not a cafe, head out to the most famous beach in St Tropez, La Pampelonne. The beach was made famous by Brigitte Bardot and it’s a great place for a low-key burger and fries for brunch. The food is in buckets, the staff are friendly and the beach is amazing. It doesn’t have a website.

The Bagatelle Beach Club in St Tropez is an institution. Located on Nikki Beach in the famous Pampelonne Bay, it’s a great spot for a more upmarket brunch (open at lunchtimes for food). It specialises in seafood but it also has salads and some delicious meat dishes. For that perfectly decadent experience, hire a sun lounger and make a day of it.
