Giving new meaning to ‘still life’ in art, Deyrolle is a legendary Parisian institution, devoted to all things once alive and now preserved forever. Visitors to this shop will find all manner curios, from big game mammals (lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!) to beautifully preserved butterflies, beetles, birds. With its striking displays, the place gives a feeling of enchantment — although this could be the latent fear of finding oneself in a bull-in-a-china-shop situation. In any event, there’s a surprisingly fun time to be had!
