South of the French mainland and north of Sardinia lies the adventure paradise of Corsica. Its long, winding mountain ranges offer fabulous cycling routes that give way to the most scenic of waterfalls. Fancy a bit of rock jumping into crystal-clear mountain pools?

Road Cycling…

Noted as a popular training ground for the Tour de France, Corsica provides the perfect landscape for exploring by bike. From an easy-going 5km, to a 91.4km (56.8 mi.) grand tour with an elevation of 1,595m (5,233 ft.), the island’s routes accommodate a range of fitness levels.

Hiking & rock jumping…

For the slightly more daring, Corsica offers a vast array of rock pools and waterfalls. With the Hotel San Lucianu as your base, you can embark on a 45-minute ride through the San-Nicolao mountain range. Its rocky roads and forest overgrowth eventually give way to the breathtaking Ucelluline waterfall. Perhaps better than the view itself are the numerous jumping off points. Launch yourself off the rocks at heights ranging from about 1m–6m (3.3 ft.–19.7 ft.).

RYA sailing & windsurfing…

The waters off the coast of Corsica provide the perfect mix of conditions for all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, you’ll find conditions that are comfortable for sailing and windsurfing alike. San Lucianu Beach Resort is replete with boats, dinghies and windsurfing equipment for hire. Sailing instructors are on hand to help, or to offer training courses if required.

Kayaking…

Kayaking through Corsica’s crystal clear waters is a must. Exploring its abundance of beautiful reefs and beaches is an experience that is at once thrilling and relaxing. If you are staying at the Hotel San Lucianu, make this a priority as it’s completely free. Paddle through the warm Mediterranean waters on your own or with a friend – these kayaks can take two people and are extremely stable. So unless your intent is to end up in the sea, you’ll be perfectly dry in your boat.
These activities and many more are available through Mark Warner. Seven day holiday from £649pp based on two people sharing. For more information visit markwarner.co.uk.
