1. Kødbyens Fiskebar

Kødbyens Fiskebar is located in hip Meatpacking district of Vesterbro, Copenhagen. The restaurant’s atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with long tables, cozy sofas and an open kitchen. This fish bar offers fresh and delicious fish and shellfish all day, every day. You can order smaller portions or one big main dish. For a full and tasty experience, order ‘below the surface’, the seven course tasting menu. Enjoy a glass of wine from extensive selection, with wines from all over Europe.

Kanalen is situated in an old house, once used as the customs office in Christianshavn district. The elegant interior is furnished with light wooden tables and chairs, with beautiful large windows overlooking the Christianshavn’s Canal. In summer you can sit outside on the terrace facing the river. The lunch menu includes traditional Danish herring specialities, while the dinner menu offers lobster, oysters and brill dishes. Order a seven courses tasting menu, accompanied by Italian or French wine.

3. Nyhavns Faergekro

Located in an old historic building at Nyhavn harbor, Nyhavns Faergekro is a cozy restaurant with a maritime décor. Miniature ships are hanging from the ceiling and the walls are decorated with maritime paintings. The restaurant is known for its extensive herring buffet, offering more than 10 homemade herring dishes. Try crown herring, sol over gudhjem or drømmesild herring, served with potatoes and rye bread. If you wish to try a traditional Danish dinner, ask for daily Færgekro dinner.

Viva is a restaurant located on a ship, docked near the Langebro Bridge. The restaurant offers a simple and modern atmosphere and stunning views on the city through its many rounded windows. The menu is a mix of Danish and French cuisine, focusing on fish and shellfish dishes. Try the six or 10 dish tasting menus, or create your own, as the dinner menu consists of only starters.

5. Sushi Lovers

Sushi Lovers is a trendy sushi joint located in the north of the Copenhagen’s city center. The restaurant focuses on taste and creativity, offering a special sushi experience. Sushi Lovers participated twice in the Sushi World Cup in Tokyo, only just missing the top three spots in the creative sushi section. Order the different tasting menus, such as World Sushi Cup or Gourmet Sushi. For an all-round tasting experience opt for the Celebration menu containing a vast selection of 60 pieces.

6. Restaurant Havfruen

Located next to the Copenhagen’s old harbor, Restaurant Havfruen is a traditional seafood restaurant with a French flair. Havfruen means mermaid, which is the restaurant’s symbol and you can see a golden mermaid statue above the entrance. The interior is done in blue tones, with dark wooden tables and chairs, covered in blue tablecloths. The pictures on the wall show the sketches of the old Nyhavn harbor. The restaurant is known for its oysters, served with wine vinegar, lemon and toast. You can also order other seafood specialities, and enjoy great French wine.
