How to Spend an Evening in Nørrebro, Copenhagen

Dronning Louises Bro – a bridge that stands in the middle of two spectacular lakes and connects the city center with Nørrebro district. It’s one of the most vivid parts of town and in the summertime it’s packed with locals from dawn to dusk. Grab a cold, organic coffee from Emmerys or a frozen cocktail from Kassen and spend some hours like a real Copenhagener. If you’d rather loosen up on a comfy chair than on a picnic sheet, choose a table at Cafe 22 and indulge in a fresh apple juice while enjoying the spectacular view of the lakes.

Take a stroll around Ravnsborggade, Sankt Hans Gade and Elmegade, and rummage through the elegant clothing shops and vintage stores – from designer boutiques to second-hand markets with homewares and knick-knacks. Music lovers may prefer a walk a bit further up Nørrebrogade, where Accord, a record store filled with thousands of CDs and vinyl records, is located.

Take a walk through Blågårdsgade and explore every hidden corner of the pedestrianized, picturesque neighborhood. Drop by Blaa Galleri and take a look at its exhibitions, or check out the quirky artwork at Limited Works. Once you’re done with the district’s galleries, follow one of the small alleys around Blågårdsplads(the square at the end of Blågårdsgade) and you’ll discover Folkets Park, a small colorful park surround by cafés and restaurants.

Except for its second-hand stores, Ravnsborggade is also known for its hip restaurants. Start your night with a delicious local dish and glass of fine wine at 20a, or at Ravnsborg. If you’re looking for something a little less fancy, or just want to grab a quick bite, try Fælledvej Pizzaria or one of the delicious takeaways on Nørrebrogade.

It’s not without reason Nørrebro is considered one of the most vivid areas in Copenhagen. The district is full of bars, nightclubs and the local-style bodegas. On Blågårdsgade you’ll find three of the area’s most known hangouts: Props Coffee Shop, Harbo Bar and Escobar. They serve beers at relatively low prices and are among the top choices for locals. However, the last-call bell rings approximately at 1AM, so if you want to continue your night out, Barcelona and Gefährlich serve delicious cocktails until the early morning hours. Finish your night at Rust sweating on the dance floor, or with a relaxed beer at Café Nørrehus.
