This restaurant is located on one of the oldest streets in the city and is a quick walk from the Roskilde Cathedral. While small and intimate, the restaurant has a beautiful outside garden where guests can sit and enjoy their meal during the warmer months. The menu is inspired by a mix of French, Italian and Danish cuisines, and guests are given the choice of 6 course, 4 courses or a la carte.

Restaurant Vigen

The elegant dining room overlooks the town from the other side of the Fjord, allowing for visiting guests to savor the sunset in the late evening over the water. In the winter, the restaurant offers candlelit dinners every Thursday night, and in July there is jazz on the terrace every Sunday. The menu features traditional Danish cuisine, as well as an assortment of sandwiches, salads and fish.

Gusto Giusto

This small Italian restaurant is well-known both for being a family friendly dining establishment and for their professional service. Every day there is a new menu, from which diners can choose between a fixed price or a la carte, and each item is limited to guarantee the freshness of the ingredients. The menu is also accompanied by a list of Italian wines that are recommended and paired with the food that is being offered that day.

Raadhuskaelderen is a small cozy restaurant located in the basement of the City Hall in the main square of Roskilde, and is within in walking distance of the Roskilde Cathedral. The menu offers several items from their lava rock barbeque, such as beef tenderloin or a goat cheese burger. They also feature beers brewed at the local brewery, Herslev Bryghus, as well as an international selection of wine.

This hotel and restaurant has a very long and interesting history dating back to the 1500s, and currently, it is a cozy spot to settle down while visiting the town of Roskilde, as either a hotel or a restaurant. The menu features several fish and meat dishes, lobster bisque, and cheese as well as a kid’s menu, making Osted Kro a family friendly establishment.

A cafe by day and a restaurant by night, Restaurant Snekken is a short distance away from the Viking Ship museum, making it a popular spot for visitors. The restaurant is also situated on the Roskilde harbour and has outdoor seating in the summer, so guests can relax and enjoy the beautiful view while they eat. The base ingredients, fruit, vegetables, fish and meat, are all fresh every morning from the market, making for a delicious Nordic menu.

M/S Sagafjord

M/S Sagafjord

Built in the 1950s, M/S Sagafjord is an old fashioned ferry, that is docked at the Viking Ship Museum. During dinner service, the ship leaves the harbour and sets sail on the Roskilde Fjord, so that passengers can revel in the view of the town and the fjord while simultaneously enjoying a delicious meal. The ship is great for large parties and the food is brought out in pots and pans, and made to be shared with the table.

Ostens Perle

Ostens Perle is a Thai restaurant located near the Roskilde Train Station. Customers have a choice between five fixed price menus (that can be shared with a minimum of two people) or a la carte (which features dishes such as tempura, an extensive list of curries and pad thai). There is also a varied list of wines, cocktails and cold or warm drinks that can be paired with the items on the menu.

This restaurant is located at the beginning of the pedestrian area of the town hall square, making it a convenient place to stop and enjoy lunch or an early dinner. The lunch menu features items like the traditional Danish open-faced sandwich, herring and cheese, while the dinner menu is a more complex three course meal, guests can choose between three options for each course. Each season, the menu changes, so that guests get the opportunity to taste the freshest local cuisine.

Situated in City Park, Pipers Hus is located in the greenest part of town while simultaneously offering customers the opportunity to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or cake as they look over the fjord. The menu includes items like roast beef, sautéed fish, and Danish meatballs, as well as several other traditional Danish dishes which are all served by friendly and helpful staff. Piper Hus is a great place to stop with family while walking to the Viking Ship Museum.
