1. Cafe Podnebi

Located in the foothills where the mighty Špilberk Castle rises, Cafe Podnebi is a great place to start a day. With a daily changing soup offering, and a wide offer of healthy and fresh breakfasts served until 11am on working days and 12pm on the weekends, it attracts many locals, especially students. The interior has a modern, simple design with square tables and chairs and black ornaments and antiques, however, the best seating is outdoors, with a view out onto the castle’s park and surrounding area.

2. Kafec

Kafec knows that breakfast is a fundamental meal in the Czech Republic, and guests get a menu where to ‘tick’ the ingredients they would like to see on the plate, Kafec offers oodles of choices for your first meal of the day, ranging from classics like sandwiches and egg-based meals, through Belgian waffles to plum cakes. The breakfast offer is available until 12pm, making this a great spot to head for a brunch as well.

Known among the young, hip Brno community, Le Social is a place where guests will find meals made of freshest ingredients from farmers and local small to medium-sized producers. The menu changes daily and there is always something for those on the gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan diets to choose from. It is probably the only place in the city offering a “breakfast burger” too.

4. Mezzanine

Mezzanine is a cool spot situated next to the Faculty of Social Studies building at Masaryk University. The relaxed atmosphere and location close to the city center attracts locals just as much as an amazing Italian coffee from the Filicori Zecchini coffee roasting plant does. For breakfast Mezzanine offers different home-made quiches, panninis and salads, as well as sweet treats. On warm days, the cafe offers outdoor seating on the terrace and a lemonade bar with some truly fantastic homemade juices.

5. TeeVee Café

TeeVee Café is one of the most popular breakfast spots offering typical breakfast meals for value prices in Brno. It is located in the heart of the city center, facing the Basilica of the Assumption and the Church of St. James. The menu changes depending on the season, either to cool the guests off during hot summer days or keep them warm during the winter time. Expect fresh juices, warm drinks, eggs, bacon and oodles of toast with jam.
