Brcko may not be one of Bosnia’s tourist hot spots, but the town has its fair share of restaurants. Locals often have a meat feast at one of the many barbeque joints, washed down with a nice cold Bosnian beer. Others prefer to head to the more romantic restaurants near the River Sava, overlooking Croatia on the other side. Here are 10 of the best places to eat in Brcko for any budget and dining experience.

1. Sheher La Petite Cuisine

Sheher La Petite is the best restaurant in Brcko for a romantic meal overlooking the River Sava. The menu has a selection of both Bosnian and international dishes including steaks and grilled vegetables, which is a refreshing change after indulging on cevapi. Draft beers or local wine combined with a scrumptious meal make the view even more special. Live bands usually play on weekends.

2. Bakarni Lonac

The hotel-restaurant is a favourite spot for locals to host a party or formal function. Bakarni Lonac serves some of the best food in Brcko cooked by world-class chefs. The menu has everything from Bosnian food and seafood to a selection of fine wines. A night out here gives you the chance to fine dine in style.

3. Galerija

Galerija is a small restaurant along Bulevar Mira in Central Brcko. You may not find five-star decor inside, but what it doesn’t have in glamour, it makes up for with delicious food. The menu has a selection of traditional Bosnian dishes, including cevapi (Bosnian kebab) at affordable prices. Locals come for a quiet Bosnian coffee in the afternoon, and families dine in the evening.

5. Gros

Centrally located, Gros is another affordable family-friendly restaurant in Brcko. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Gros specialises in barbeque and grilled food, which sometimes includes a whole roast pig. Other international cuisines including rice dishes, fish and pizza are on the menu too.

6. Kod Beka

Kod Beka has some of the freshest meat in Brcko served from either the grill or barbeque. Diners often say this restaurant has the best cevapi in Brcko. Helpful and smiling staff provide an excellent level of service combined with a traditional interior of decorated bricks and wooden beams to make the perfect spot for a romantic meal.

7. Etno Restoran Kolubara

Visitors who want to dine at one of the locals’ favourite spots should check out Etno. Grilled food and barbeque make up most of the dishes, washed down with a cold draft beer. Families and locals of all ages come to Etna, especially on weekends to enjoy the food and ambience.

8. Baron Grill

If you’re looking for a quick meal in Brcko, check out Baron Grill. The restaurant shares similarities with McDonald’s but with much better burgers, and diners get more value for their money. Families often eat at Baron Grill, and the location is central too. Anyone who wants a quick snack should check out this fast food joint.

9. Avia Restoran

Bosnia’s most popular snacks include burek and cevapi. Avia Restoran sells both, along with burgers, fresh fish, pizzas, goulash and soups. Prices are cheap in this restaurant to the west of Central Brcko near the Riva Sava. Locals usually come for the cheap espressos and Bosnian coffee, which costs around 1KM ($0.60).

10. Fast Food Sky

If you’re near Velika Park to the south of Central Brcko, check out Fast Food Sky. Everything from steak, burgers, pizza and doner kebabs, served with fries and wedges, to inexpensive prices, make this spot a favourite. Expect generous portions and quick service for lunch, dinner or takeaway.
