The Best Cafes in Mostar, Bosnia

Cafe De Alma is just a stone’s throw from Stari Most and a popular spot for tourists. Fresh coffee is prepared from ground beans to make that delicious Bosnian type, served in a traditional pot along with a sweet side. The staff are friendly and eager to show you how they make the coffee and explain its historical importance to the region. You can sit either indoors or outdoors, and there’s a selection of snacks and drinks available.

Stari Grad sits in a perfect location a few metres from the Stari Most bridge, so enjoy the views and people watch in the outdoor seating area. Snacks such as sandwiches, french fries and sausages are on the menu, as well as draft beer. Because of the location, expect the prices to be slightly higher than other cafes. Enjoy watching the coppersmiths making their crafts on the opposite side of the street. Staff are friendly and can speak basic English

Near the Cathedral of Mary, Mother of the Church on the western side of the river, Caffe Bar La Dolce Vita serves some of the cheapest coffees in Mostar. Bosnian coffee, espresso and others cost little more than a few marks. Don’t expect anything too fancy here, but you’ll be greeted by friendly waiters who have a basic command in English–it’s a great local experience. Stari Most is a few hundred metres along Franjevacka, making it an ideal spot for the morning shot of coffee to start the day.

Located on the western, Croatian side of the river, Caffe Bar Nide Veze is a family-friendly bar/cafe serving a range of affordable drinks, snacks and meals. The outdoor seating area is usually bursting at the seams in the summer months as locals and tourists enjoy their coffee, tea or beer with their meal. Light snacks–including pancakes, crepes and pizzas–are on the menu, and the service is always rated as excellent. Nide Veze also makes a great spot to enjoy a glass of fresh craft beer while giving your legs a rest from sightseeing.

If you’re looking for a drink with a view, you can’t get any better than Cafe Karma. As you cross the bridge from Kujundziluk, you’ll notice this cafe on the far side of the bridge. Cafe goers can sip their Bosnian or Turkish coffee with a view of the bridge behind them. If you’re lucky, you may get to watch the divers jumping into the cold waters below.
